Review : After a very short honeymoon with Honda Unicorn I am now living with the latest model of Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi. I have bought it on the 14th December.2004. Yes; there are significant changes-good,bad.The bike is now slim when you compare it with it's earlier version. The fuel tank is not as bulky as it was.The previous 18lt tank now has become 15lt.The length of the bike has also become smaller so is the height. Now it has got thicker tyre with alloy wheels. The BHP has increased a bit. There is now catalytic chamber underneath the engine. The engine noise has drastically reduced. The clutch behaviour is excellent. The rear shock absorber is now gas filled(nitro X Shokabsorber). It first came with Vespa scooter. But I feel it hard-may be it has to be adjusted to get the correct comfort level. My daughter told me that unicorn's monoshock is better when pillion's comfort matters. The pick up of the bike is not as quick as the earlier version. And I feel CBZ is the best bike if you consider the excellent accelaration curve. But when you ride it becomes a joy at around 40-45 km/hr speed. The fifth gear will cruise you with a breeze. And you can now ride at 20 km/hr at fifth gear.yes, without any hiccup. The instrumental console is a nice one-tachometer,speedometer,tripmeter,fuelmeter.The dual horn is best in the market and light as always very clear and powerful. Now what's the most significant change?Yes,seems the chronic disease of pulsar family has gone-the gear shifting problem. There is no problem in gear shifting even in my brand new bike. There is no false shifting-it's smooth. What about mileage? Can't say it right now.But I shall definitely keep posting on it later. The self start is not a quality one when you compare it with Karizma or CBZ.In those hero honda bikes the engines come to life by just touching the self-start button. But in pulsar it will remind you of self noise of old cars. But don't get upset by it.Karizma and CBZ uses mitshubishi self which is more costly than pulsar's.So the quality matters. I don't like the new glass window on the fly-wheel cover. The earlier black nut gone and replaced by a glass window.I don't see any advantage to a buyer. As the timing of the bike to be checked by the Bajaj service men during servicing the bike and not by the customer. And I feel it's really risky if a kid just breaks the window.Instead of providing this glass window if the mobil inspection window would have been supplied then it would have been more handy from a biker's point of view. Another point I must mention that the dealer has given me the manual of the older version's Pulsar, and if you visit https://mypulsar.com then there is also no mention of the changes of the new bike. Why so?The manual is also of poor quality when information matters-I shall cast my vote in favour of Honda Unicorn's manual. Overall new Pulsar is a much improved bike. The bike which will give you 100% road confidence. It will give you a great road control with excellent braking. The new pulsar cruises at fifth gear even at 20 km/hr speed without any knocking. It's a breeze not a gusty wind.Better say 'definitely a male' becomes a true gentleman.
