It is a matter of record that all the worlds top two-wheeler makers and designers have clearly said :-

It is shocking to see a pathetic product like the pulsar on sale.

It cannot be sold in countries that have strict safety records as it cannot comply to any of their rules.

What shocks them even more is the blind faith of the Indian in the Bajaj name.

It has all material and gear of poor quality and yet it still sells!

(e.g.: the disc brakes' disc rusts quickly, in a few weeks in some cases, while it should not rust at all ever! Imagine braking with a rusted disc, as good as a fractured spine)

Whats more the no. of sales it is clocking up is even more scarier.

A suppressed accident report also mentions very nicely, majority percentage of two wheeler accidents with disablites, fatalities are on a Pulsar. Note it says percentage of disablities/ fatalities among accidents per bike. Not out of total. So you cannot say its due to higher sales, it's because of poor quality standards.

This means if there are x accidents per y bikes sold, and z% of x accidents are fatal/ debilitating, then I am quoting the z% values.

The report was an internal unpublished one of a govt. owned non-life insurance co.

For comparision a CBZ has a 1/8th rate for the same, and a Fiero has a 1/7th rate.

What more do you want to know? Dont buy this bike, buy absolutely anything else.

Its due to such Cos. launching such substandard products that they sell on brand names that other really good Cos. also bring substandard stuff to our country and sell it to us.

If you really dont think so, try out a CBR 150 and then ride a pulsar please. If you cant get your hands on a CBR 150 try out the new Suzuki as soon as it launches. I have nothing against the co. that has created this product. Infact other products like the Eliminator/ Avenger and the Caliber by the same manufacturer were extremely good. I merely say that this product sells by brand name only and not by quality.

If you want to know: I had a pre-booked Pulsar when it launched. I sold it in 3 weeks, and took a 2nd hand CBZ instead, much better and much safer. And then a Fiero too, and then another Fiero F2, and then a Unicorn. Now in queue for the Suzuki being launched. surprisesurprise** pre-order again, as soon as dates are out.

FINAL WORDS: If you buy/ have bought this bike pls do the following for your safety. you may do any or none of these as per your budget/ convenience or thoughts.

Change the brake fluid from dot 3 type (red) to dot 4 type (colourless/ white). Minor expense 74 Rs for fluid can and maybe 50 Rs for the bleeding and refilling. Ensure no air bubbles remain in the brake pipes. Improves brake feedback.

If you feel your tyres give less feedback try out tyres with other patterns and diff manufacturers like Dunlop, Michelin, Bridgestone and to lesser extent Duro. Or Indian manufacturers like Dunlop, MRF. try to avoid wide tyres >110/90 for rear and >80/80 for front. Cost as per choice. Treads can make a diff in handling and feedback. Make sure the treads can handle ample amount of water as we are in a monsoon country.

Helmet - Helmet - Helmet

Keep brakes and handle bars free of grease and dirt. Use a Brake Cleaning Spray for the Brakes (cost 350 or so, lasts 20-40 times).

Headlights adjusted properly.

Well oiled chain, Engine Oil upto mark.

Brake with BOTH brakes always, never use only 1.

Good, comfortable and practical seating position and properly adjusted handlebars as per your height.

Thats All Folks.

If you dont have good brakes/ good tyres, what use is a good engine when you wont even be able to stop properly?
