HI People,, Dharani is back after 1 month[since 1 month I didn't write any reviews] this is a complete review on The New Pulsar 150 dtsi.. after reading this review u will clearly decide between Unicorn & Pulsar ...Before posting this review I did a lot of reserch .And I also got the real world Mileage figures for the pulsar 150 dtsi....

So Let's start with the Some problems of the OLD Dtsi::

1, GEAR BOX: The people who own & use a pulsar regularly know about this problem the best...While testing the old dtsi I noticed that the gear shifting was not so smooth...i mean sometimes it gets into false neutrals & some times u have to use your Calf muscles [Leg muslcles] to thier full extent to change the gear

2, SWITCH GEAR: Some Pulsar owners compaint about the switches and The Side stand light [it keep glowing even when the side stand is secured]. Althought this is a minor problem many pulsar owners complaint about it....

The first thing in the mind's of the guys at bajaj is that they have to defnetly raise the perfomance of the 150dtsi upto a competative mark...There is a thing called ''REFINEMENT'' which the pulsar didn't posses from the begnning, and which the Unicorn bosts about..

STYLE & BUILD::

The only visible changes an amature can notice are the Alloy wheels[ same as on the dicover]& The tank .. The tank capacity has been reduced from 18 lit to 15 lit..so Pulsar is slimer now but it has lost it's identity [every body use to refer it with BIG tank]..The fairing is the same but now There is a lot of space between The FRONT MUD GUARD & THE FAIRING. It is a yaaaaaaaaaaawnning gap...And the wheel it self looks very small compared to the bike [i dont like it]..althought the reduced diameter of the wheel has some handling benefits . .

SWING ARM Lenght has been increased by 10 mm...and there is alot of space between the back well & the body.....The angle of mud guard in the back has been altered .it has no advantages but only dis-advantages. When it Rains it lets all the mud from the road to fall on the body.& and The Regestration plate.....so u have to always keep whipping it off....

ENGINE &TRANSMISSION::

Bajaj made no changes in the engine but they tuned it to give some mid-range torque & Power, They added the Exhaust-tec which is seen on the discover,it has some torque benefits...And the most IMPORTANT CHANGE IS WITH THE GEAR BOX

They spaced the gear ratio's closely ...so u have to change gears ofen in city ....they changed the gear box ratios to accomidate the smaller wheel & to give it more mid range torque

but the respacing of gear box resulted to lesser mileage , BECAUSE THE ENGINES REVS HIGH..so more revs results in lesser mileage [common sense]

WHEELS & BRAKES

THE BRAKES ARE THE SAME 240 mm discs in the front and 120mm drums in the rear....but the disc brake has been re-degined..it looks more sportif [take a close look u will notice it]..so all this buzzz was about the alloy wheels as standard ...they are the same as on discover ...Many peope think alloy wheels cost more than the traditional rims but IF PRODUCED IN LARGE SCALE. They actually are more cheaper to produce than the rim's...but karizma's alloys wheels are class apart do not compare them with the one on the Pulsar or DIscover... the rear tire is more WIDE than before it is 100/99 type...and it is not more wider than one on the CBZ....

PERFOMANCE:::

THE MID -RANGE perfomance has been increased but closly spaced gear box resulted in

KILLING of the top end perfomance...it runs out of breath at 112 kmph....but when I tested I took it up to 75kmph becaz it was not my bike I borrowed it [hhhhhhheeeeeeee]

DIALS& SWITCHES:

tHE DIALS ARE THE SAME but the switches I think are of good quality atleast better than before, the side stand alarm has different sound now instead of <TING><TING>it goes <PLIM>

and I always adored the dials of the pulsar....

LIGHTS& FAIRING

Lidghts are the same but the rear light has been made more powerful ..many Pulsar oweners complaint that there is no replacment for the PILOt lights present in the headlight of pulsar...but I donot know whether it is a fact

MY EXPERIENCE::

AS always I took the bike to NH 5 which passes to vijayawada for testing the bike ...it felt good ..and the engine was vibration free the brakes wre very nice ..i noticed something new in the pulsar ..The FRont wheel is not locking under harsh braking...in the EARLIER versions of pulsar the front whell use to, lock under harsh braking but in the new pulsar it doesnt lockn but still provide a good braking[ I wonder whether they have fitted it with A.B.S] heeeeeee :}

NEW SUSPENSION:;

If honda can bost mono-shock the bajaj came up with Gas shock obserbers [ nitro's filled]..they indeed work nicely..better than before atleast...and the seat is more softer now..

the front suspension is also good and I noticed that the front end is DIVING more under hard braking with a pillion...so much that if brake real hard I wonder it will do a stoppy[ front whellie] hee

MILEAGE:::

DUE TO THE close ratio gear box it is obivious that the mileage will decrease and now the Pulsar has a fat rear tire tooo..so expect it to decrese...it is giving almost 52--55kmpl in city driving condidtions..and a worse 50 kmpl if not 49...when I drove it harshly with 1 litre 91 octane it gave me almost 50kmpl

There is an other reason for shortning the height of the new Bajaj bikes ...Bajaj saysn it will be more comfartable for shorter people to ride..and more than 50% of thier customers are 5.3- 5.6 ft so thaey came up with these shorter wheels

So should u go for the NEW PULSAR 150DTSI ..i think it has lots of new thing's for a very reasonable price ....and if u are patient enought to wait for atleast 3--4months for honda unicorn electric start u can go for it....BUT Bajaj dealer in vijayawada promises on the spot delivery for the new pulsar 150& 180 dtsi [except red and blue colur's]

if u are going for the new pulsar then go for THE RED OR THE SILVER becaz black is tooooooo common...

Thanks to my friends Vishunu for daring to be my pillion and Anita for convicing her brother to give me the bike for a day & also thank members like matwala boy, manoj101,cousin2 ,mnc123[lyla],jaya ,chillout,vikswarat, e.t.c for constanly rating and reading my reviews

And I also hate some members who just read the review an dont rate or atleast comment on it.......I am not asking to over rate just rate it according to what u thinnk it deserves.

cheers
