Well here I am writing for the first time on mouthshut and boy I have a lot to write about my bike. Sorry if it’s long. And if you feel its boring then I request you not to read any further.

First let me tell u what type of guy I am! I am a sort of guy who is not at all sure of what he is doing. But GOD has been to kind to me. I always make the right choices by mistake.

I never knew what type of bike I wanted. My usage was minimal. I work at the International Tech Park in Bangalore and I stay around 25 kms away from the office. So there was no chance of commuting daily on my bike. I just wanted it for the weekends. I thought of going for a second hand bike. RX 100/135 was what I was looking for (I still say having a RX engine under u is a altogether different experience that u can never get in the present bikes. Not even my bike). My budget was a max of 25K. My search began but I couldn’t zero down on any bike. Then my fickle mind took charge of the situation. I started looking at almost all the options. Second hand Samurai to a second hand Splendor.

Then one day my friend was leaving to the US for his higher studies. He was selling his RX 135. I thought of buying it but he was quoting a very high price. I felt dejected that my friend didn’t sell his bike to me

I decided to buy a new bike. (Arrogant. That’s what I am and my bike has added to my arrogance)

It was March 1st 2006 and it was my mom’s birthday. I wanted to buy my bike on this very day because I somehow felt it’s a lucky day. I got up that morning to buy a Bajaj Discoverer or a Honda Activa! Both the showroom are side by side on the Rajkumar road in Bangalore.

Can you believe that I left home to buy a vehicle and was not sure of which bike to buy!!!! My friend said that I can ride an Activa even when I am old but not a Pulsar. Pulsar???? Another bike started doing rounds in my mind. Before this I never had this bike in my mind.

I went straight to the VST Bajaj showroom and started dealing for a Pulsar. But they said that they will be delivering the bike the next day which I didn’t want. I argued with the sales people and headed straight to Khivraj Bajaj. But even they said that they would be delivering the next day. I had to agree because I had no where to go .I made the complete down payment because I didn’t want to get in the business of paying monthly.

March 2nd I left the office early and collected my Black 150CC DTSI in the evening.

I took this bike by mistake but it has been a pleasant mistake until now.

It’s been almost 7 months and 4000 Kms and there are no issues at all with the bike.

The +ve’s:

Superb handling: there is something about this bike which makes u feel that u r handling this bike and not the other way round. (Mind you. It’s not the case with a RX. That bike will always dictate terms to you)

You can easily cruise in the 3rd gear in the heavy traffic.

Superb pickup: I don’t know how many times I wiz pass those other 150CC bikes on the MG Road

Excellent shock absorbers

Superb styling: Remove the sari guard and that mud guard and the bike is a treat to watch.

The –ve’s:

Its handle design: Will get back pain because of the leaning kind of style. I am planning of replacing it with the old 180CC handle

Gear Box: Sometimes it’s difficult to shift the gears down. They kind of get locked.

Headlight: Light is not up to the mark. My friends LML Vespa beats my pulsar in the lights brightness.

A must buy because I am sure you gonna speak about this bike to your grandchildren. The results are there to be seen. The sheer number of pulsars on the road speak for its capability.

It’s like those RX days of my dad when every youngster had one.

Come be a part of the Pulsar brigade.

And by the way I am thinking of a second hand Maruti Suzuki Baleno .See you sometime in a car review section.
