Hi Friends...Its me sandeepdhawan_83 again, fully loaded, banging on Mouthshut.com after a Long Hibernation. This my second review on Pulsar 150..our National Animal (Every-One should accept), most common, most successful, but nt the best (which I admit atleast) 143.9cc on road. Loads of competitors are already out on road..the newest one-TVS Apache, upcoming gladiator 150cc (which I suppose will be out till december), still the stallion is unbeatable till date.

Wel I m nt here to support or promote Bajaj auto, but to display my 8500 kms, 6 months old experience with this product. Most of u knw, M a true Bajaj Fan, but something in ma mind let me think twice n thrice whether the best seller is the best for everyone ?? this is a question..which I hope every reader should answer in the comment section.

Anyways Lemme start with ma beast DL-8S AF 6766 (Devil’z number: 3 sixes :D)

Bought this machine on 30th January 2k6, my official Pulsar to arrive at my residence. First one being the black cat 180 dtsi now being owned by my cousin. Done 5000 kms upto May, next 3500 kms till date..hmm very fast eh ! isn’t ? wel,  loads of commutin, lots of drags, few long routes..4 servicing, some problems and many more oscillating stuff.

Basics:143.9cc, 13.5 bhp , 136 kgs kerb weight + ES version, alloys, Xhuastec, red colour = Rs 58,486 (X-showroom,Delhi)....Boring :(

Style, Built, Handling:Excellent. Unique style icon ... (keeping 180/Zma apart). Still I like 180’z black cat verison which is also incorpated into todayz little monster Apache. Solid Muscular looks, S*xo zig-zagging handling btw traffic.Ridden lots of other brands, but I don’t think any other 150 handles so much aggressive as this machine does. Anyways depends from individual to individual.

Performance: VRROMMMMMMMMMMMM

1) 0-60: The bike simply Rox !! . Having 136 kgs in the belly + tuning carb in normal (no power, no avg) mode can beat any other 150cc bike (except pulsar 2nd edition) in its class. Believe it, right after second servicing, I had beaten Unicorn, CBZ, Apache numerous times. Nt raced with Fiero yet , but yes Apache is very close to pulsar 2nd version in 0-60. However, winning in race depends upon rider nt the bike..mind it. Most of our pulsarians loose out coz they depend completely on their machine.

2) 65-100: Bike looses out, but continously throttling full fledged @ 4th gear can make others sweat .. abbe ab bhi saala aggey hai ?  Yes, the only thing troubles might b the shorter gearing.. which make the higher gears performing bad..But once u had taken lead....aajao kisme dum hai...

3) 90-110: Now the power punch. steady pace..without using clutch , shifting to OD @ 90 kmph can make u upto upto 110 but then after, it slows down but no vibes as* in Apache. However I had managed @ 118 kmph at redline 9400 rpm, but only once. sambhal k bhaiya..it may take u to service stations twice or thrice.

Thats all abt performance. Guyz who wanna ask the fastest 150, TTBOMK its CBZ @ 120 kph which atleast i’d never achieved.

Paise bachao...MILEAGE:

This section may land u in doubt but the truth is, before second servicing I use to get 58-60 kmpl of fuel efficiency @ 4k rpm. Maxima : 71 kmpl driving steadily under standard road conditions @ 50-55 kmph. After second servicing  till date, I get nt less than 61 kmpl of avg, driving upto 70 kph @ 5400 rpm. Yes, Ma beast is tuned in avg mode now, so y top notch I get usually now-a-days only 110 kph.:(

So thats all good folks abt the machine. Power+Avg+Style+Thrill+Extreme Dimensions+sound MMMMMMMM . Y nt, thats y, its the best seller. but is it the best ?

1.Oil Leakage:Every 1/1000 cases are there. Not a single two wheeler give this prob in such early stage, but ma beast had given me this prob after 10 days of purchasing date. This problem persisted without my knwledge, but thank god, wasn’t too late. Got the tappet setting fixed within a month, free of cost under warranty.

2.Rear tyre bubbling erupts atleast once a month. When asked from local mechanic, told me too much of driving or improper puncture setting can result in bubbling. He may b right, coz my rear tube has changed twice. Also my Brake shoes gt replaced after 5000 kms.

3.Poor paint quality, addon Teflon coating suxxed.Compared to other brands, my bike’z paint shine is fading day by day despite so much care. My vehicle takes bath everyday, dunno what to do. :(

4.Chain setting:Every month.

Rest everything is fine and perfect.

Now some advices for new Pulsar Lovers/Buyers from my side.

1. This bike is a true pseudo-sports machine.Hence to ride such models, u need to be physically perfect. So keep ur physical activites on (without pause). Don’t get much addicted ki nahi , mein to sabzi lene bhi bike pe jaunga. Backache prob is the biggest example.

2.Don’t Race b4 second servicing / 2000 kms. May land u in technical problems.

3. Choose that vehicle which suits u in all respects.Best sellers aren’t the best, mind it. Keep ur options open, for commuting purposes unicorn scores more.

4.Drive Safely, always wear helmet.Driving cautiously can minimise the chances of fatality, helmet save u from major probs. Dunno when so many stylish helmets are available in the market, y do ppl avoid them. nonsense !

Happy Riding

VROOOMMMMMMMM
