The Bajaj Pulsar 220 dts-i has always commanded respect on road as well as on paper.It beats its rivals like the Karizma ZMR, Tvs Apache RTR 180, & the Yamaha R15 by considerable margins on the spec sheet.Bajaj launched this bike with the tagline-"The Fastest Indian", and after riding it for the past 2 weeks I admit that it has lived up to its name.Bajaj has done most of the work under the body which translates well on road.The P220 comes with all-black styling which sets the mood for some hooliganism especially in black.The P220 has a great road presence and grabs eyeballs like few other bikes. Since my bike is still in its run-in period, i will give you my initial riding experience rather than a full on review.
POWER:The P220 produces 21Ps power which makes it the most powerful bike manufactured in India.The power comes in handy while uphill rides and also during high speed cruising.Acceleration is outstanding, the P220 takes just 4 seconds to touch the 60km mark.
ENGINE:The engine is good and sounds stress free even when revved upto 10000rpm.
TRANSMISSION:Transmission is 1-up-5-down and the gears shift quite smoothly.
HANDLING:P220 is a long and heavy bike.It weighs 150kgs.But inspite of all this it handles like a dream.The handling is so good that even novice riders will be at ease while navigating the P220 through heavy traffic.
PERFOMANCE:The P220 is considered by many as the king of performance biking.The P220 is fast, stable at high speeds, suitable for touring, good for city commute and it is also cheap.Knocking off FI(fuel injection) has allowed bajaj to lower its price by more than 10k.P220 is endowed with a massive carburettor which improved the perfomance of the bike.
