Hey.........

I just got my new All Black Pulsar 180 DTSi a couple of weeks back. The bike is a stunner and the fact that I had never seen the bike in the flesh before I bought it hadnt fazed me, but I was totally unprepared for what I saw.

It looks absolutely gorgeous....................

The engine is a little rough......expected considering its a brand new engine.

The mileage is 35 - 40, good given the fact that it hadnt been serviced even once.

The first service is scheduled between 500 and 750 kms. The problem was that the bike can only be serviced at Probiking dealers, and the fact that Bajaj has only 2 of them; in Mulund and Andheri; was a big pain.

Anyways, I had to take an appointment for a service which was scheduled after 10 days.....................leaving me damn disspointed as the bike had already crossed 500 kms. By the time the service will happen, it would have crossed 1000 kms. Bajaj really needs to work on the After sales service fromt as it is a very big let down.

I do not want to have a bike not serviced at regular intervals, which is important for a bike like the Pulsar 180.

Anyways........onto the bike now...........The styling is excellent considering the fact that the changes made to the original are simplistic and minimum. The all black styling is too cool for words and gives the bike a sleek mean and aggressive look. The starter is excellent as the bike starts in one go all the time. The engine does take a few minutes to warm up so its a good idea to keep the engine running before taking off. The acceleration is excellent and linear and there is enough power in all gears. Just open the throttle and the bike surges ahead. However the gearing for the first two gears is short making for fast changes and good acceleration. The gearshift is a little notchy which can be a little difficult to deal with sometimes. The temptation to open the throttle is immense but I refrain somehow....till that first service eludes me.......

A word of advice to prospective buyers.......if confused between the 150 and the 180...dont think twice and go for the 180. Its worth the extra moolah......... I had the option of going for the 150 which was 10 grand cheaper...... but thankfully I decided against it. The extra 30 cc is much more than you think and the distinctive styling which makes me stand out in the sea of 150s is a killer.

The bike goes into service in two days and I am going to get it teflon coated as I would hate for the brilliant sheen on the black to be lost.

The next review after my first 0-100 on the 180.

Ciao biker dudes.................
