Today, Bajaj Pulsar is the most popular and best selling sportbike in India, varying from 135cc to 220cc. They have always been best performing motorcycles against their competition in the respective segments. It has now been a total of 11 years since Pulsar has been wowing the Indian roads, and we just cannot have enough of it. Starting in the year 2001 at 150cc, 13hp of maximum power, Pulsar has now reached 24.5bhp of maximum power with its flagship Rs 200 in 2015, all the while innovating pretty much suiting the Indian requirements. Bajaj has a trademark on digital twin-spark and triple-spark ignition(DTS-i) technologies. Another technology exclusive to Bajaj Auto two wheelers, which Bajaj has got patented, is ExhausTEC(Torque Expansion Chamber).

A market which was happy with fuel efficient bikes, was much assured that India was not supposed to ride any performance-oriented bike, was found dumbfound when Bajaj brought Pulsar. The first of Pulsar was launched in the month of November in 2001. This first Pulsar was a 150 cc model, which had an air-cooled, spark ignited four stroke, single cylinder, petrol, engine, with 13hp as its maximum power generated. This bike also brought disc brakes to the Indian bike market. By the year 2003, Bajaj was ready to launch the second generation of Pulsar bikes, with the radical technology developed by Bajaj, DTSi. With DTSi engines loaded, the Pulsar was more powerful and fuel efficient. Growing into the year 2007, Bajaj came out with Pulsar 220 DST-Fi, with fuel injection system, and clip-on handlebars, rear disc brake, things that were totally new to Indian bikes. In the two coming years, Bajaj launched upgraded version 4 of Pulsar 150 and 180 and version 4.5 of Pulsar 150, naked Pulsar 220S. Year 2011 seemed like the blessed year for Bajaj, models like Pulsar 135LS, 150, 180, 220F were launched in the same year. However, more than 2011, the year 2012 brought fresh blessings to Bajaj. Bajaj, in a merger with KTM, launched Pulsar 200NS. 200 cc, liquid cooled, 23.17 bhp at 9500 rpm, 8000 rpm for 18.3 Nm, triple spark, four valve single overhead camshaft(SOHC), gas charged monoshock, fuel efficiency of 58 kmpl, petal disc brake upfront, disc brake at the rear, Pulsar has sure reached a horizon.
