I have run Hero Honda Splendor for 70, 000kms and then subsequently LML Freedom for another 80, 000 kms. Both are splendid bikes in their class and with no complaints. Bajaj pulsar 150DTSi I bought it for its manly looks and designs. However, I am very disappointed with the gear box. That probably gives me to assume that probably Bajaj does not have a international collaboration for their gear box/engine due to which this gear box issue is so actue.

During test drive when I brought the bike to rest, I tried in vain to bring it to neutral but could not.  But the sales guy made me switch off the engine and then with a feather touch the bike came to neutral. However, I went ahead and purchased and later realise that the gearbox sucks. One of the main complaints in this bike is that the gear comes to neutral while the bike is in running on the road. I mean the neutral is between gear 2 and

1.  So when u bring the gear down from 2 to 1 it will rest at neutral.

I was facing troubling in shifting gears even when the bike was new and even after using it for 1 year.  Also, I am told that the chain grease goes off, so I need to oil it every week once so that the gear shift is happening smoothly. I have never done this in other brand of bikes. I never heard anyone oiling the chains every week to keep the gear shifting happening smoothly in other brands other than owner of a bajaj pulsar dtsi.

On the whole, the gear box sucks. If given another chance, I will go for Hero Honda Hunk or Enfield.

I sincerely hope the future versions are of better technology and they would have rectified it for better peerformance
