Friends,

I bought Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS on 13th Nov 2010. I am writing this review after completing 500 kilometers.

At first when I thought about buying a new bike, I made my requirements clear.

I looked for a bike with good pickup(125+cc), a decent mileage(55+ kmpl), should be suitable for Chennai city traffic, lite in weight so that it will be easy to handle in traffic and stylish with in a budget of 60k.

This helped me to narrow down my choice to just 4: [1] Yamaha SS125 [2] Yamaha SZ-X 150 [3] Bajaj Discover 150 [4] Bajaj Pulsar 135

[1] Yamaha SS125 (57k)

I rejected SS125 because of its narrow tyres which tends to skid in wet and slippery conditions. It also lacks modern gadgets like LCD display, LED tail lamp.

[2] Yamaha SZ-X 150 (59k)

The major draw back of SZ-X 150 is it lacks disk breaks and kick start. So I dropped this bike too.

[3] Bajaj Discover 150 (53k)

Of course nothing wrong with this bike except its same old design which I felt bored looking at, as my father already owns a Discover 110.

[4] Bajaj Pulsar 135 (60k)

Finally here comes my bike. Its just awesome and now I am 100% sure that I made the right choice. Check out the pros and cons below.

PROS:
=

The following were the pros I observed.

[01] Stunning design - The UG1 looks much sportier compared to its initial design

[02] LCD Console and LED tail lamp

[03] Disk breaks

[04] Good Customer service, After sale service and resale value of Bajaj bikes especially pulsar brand name speaks volumes.

[05] Butter smooth gear shifting

[06] Good pickup

[07] Looks new and different compared to other pulsars too

[08] Very good road grip with broad rear Tyre

[09] Lite in weight(122kgs). This makes it easy to handle in traffic. Also this makes it good for city driving

[10] Mileage: Now I am getting 58kmpl driving through the busy roads of Chennai daily. Hope it will cross 60kmpl after subsequent services.

CONS:
=

If you are considering this bike as an option to buy, I wish to clear few points to you.

[01] This is not the bike for those who wish to make frequent long drives. Comfort level is slightly lesser. I personally fixed this issue by stitching cushioned seats for the bike by spending some 300 bucks.

[02] This is not the bike for those who always used to drive at 70+ kmph. Vibrations starts after 70+.

[03] This is not the bike for those who are very short (below 5'6"). This bike is taller than p150. You can check the specs at Bajaj website.

[04] This is not the bike for those who expects a mileage more than 65kmpl even in city traffic.

[05] Of course the top speed is more than 115kmpl, but you can never drive at such speeds with p135. Never compare it with 150 cc bikes like p150, Fz, Dazzler, CBZ, GS150R. Just remember you need to spend 10-15k extra for those 150cc bikes.

Finally I wish to conclude saying, if you want a lite stylish peppy city bike which can cruise through the traffic with ease with good road grip and excellent pickup and at the same time delivering a promising mileage of 60+, Pulsar 135 LS is there for you. I bought this bike only after making a detailed market study. I can assure that you won't regret later.
