The Bajaj Platina has been one of the leading bikes in terms of fuel efficiency. Latest update to the bike terms it as the Platina 100 ES. It brings quite a few changes including a much needed electric start, hence the suffix ES. Mileage figure still happens to be its unique selling point, standing at a manufacturer claimed 96.9 km/l.
The engine also gets the popular DTS-i treatment, which improves performance with the help of two spark plugs for better combustion. The bike's top speed is claimed to be 90 km/hr. In the real world expect it to reach around 80 km/hr, beyond which you can expect some resistance from the small motor. The Platina 100 ES competes in the commuter segment that is largely dominated by Hero's Splendor and Honda's Dream 110. The bike appears to be ready to tackle city potholes and uneven rural streets with its 190mm ground clearance. Bajaj claims that the bike comes with some class leading features such as the longest seat, widest tyre, large fuel tank capacity of 11 litres, hydraulic co-axial rear suspension and a zero maintenance battery.
It's offered in red, blue and black colours. The black shade which is also called Ebony Black, can be had either with silver or red decals
