Fooled....Fought....Got a Replacement

I had bought an LG 330 litres refrigerator from Bajaj Electronics which is located at Panjagutta. I was real fascinated by the showroom and the range that they had in the products. Before going to Bajaj Electronics I had visited to "ezone" , "Next", "Croma" and "Tirumala Electronics". I was happy with the service in "ezone" and "Tirumala Electronics" but did not buy the product because of the margin in the price. There was a price difference of 500 to 1500.


"Croma" is a new shop that has come up at erramanzil but failed to fascinate me because of the lack of product knowledge to the service represntatives and the product range. I tried to speak to them and ask them about the product I want but they start telling me that either the product is outdated or its not being manfactured anymore. So after that experience I thought of sticking with "Bajaj Electronics". I had to ignore "next" for the lack of service.


Finally I went ahead and purchased the refrigerator from Bajaj Electronics and they promised me that it would be delivered the next day i.e. by evening. As promised I received the refrigerator and my family was completely excited as we have never used a double door refrigerator. Earlier to this we used to have the 165 litres single door refrigerator which worked for 24 years, though it was working fine but we had to let it go as the consumption of food had increased and we had major problem in storing meat products and vegetables. The problems started with in a week as the refrigerator started turning off automatically and would come back again after couple of hours or more than that. So when complained about this to the showroom they wanted to contact the helpline for LG which we did and they said that there will be a technician who would be coming in with in 24 hrs.


In the meantime the refrigerator even stopped cooling and also started heating up one side. When the technician came in he looked at the product and started using some technical words related to product and explained that its the functionality of the refrigerator and we should not worry about it. Then he just adjusted the settings of the fridge, asked us to buy a stand which was supplied by him (with out bill - charged 500) and informed not to overload the fridge. It was just a SHOCK !!!!! What the HELL!!! do not overload, we bought a large refrigerator keeping in mind to store more things...when he said OVERLOAD we were never able to understand what does he mean by it. Keeping vegetables in the veg tray and placing the food items in the racks (4 of them) and water bottles in the bottles section are defined as OVERLOADING then I believe it should be well informed to every other customer. I dont know why they think that the consumer is just illiterate about the product and would start believing whatever they say.


We then got adjusted with the latest update from the service technician and continued using the fridge. The next day the same problem repeated again and then we had to contact the LG support as well as the showroom again and this time they sent a different technican who came and replaced a part...brand new refrigerator just more than a week already a replacement...hmm....great going right !!!!


My mom was already mad about the complete thing and wanted to replace the refrigerator. I had to convince her somehow and continued again. With in next 2 days we had the same problem again and it was like decided that we have received a defect product. So on the same day we visited bajaj electronics and informed about the problem. They wanted the complaint numbers that were provided by the LG helpline and also the bill. They took those numbers and called up the LG distributor in hyderabad and wanted them to explain the problem for a replacement. The lady who spoke to us by the name Sravani ( keeping it anonymous) started convincing us that its a small problem and can be rectified very easily. She said she will go ahead and send a technican and when we informed her that we already had technican who had visited more than 4 times, she told us that she will send a senior technican. She also started explaining that my refrigerator does not have a problem like gas filling or any other hardware problem, which nornally happens in the refrigerators. At this point my dad lost his control and started shouting on her and explained her the pain and agony that we have been going through from past couple of weeks with the refrigerator. He started explaining her the kind of money that was spent on it and the problems that we are facing with the refrigerator. The issue was escalated to higher level i.e. the LG distributor/manager as we were adamant about the replacement and if not we were ready to file a case in the CONSUMER COURT for cheating. The owner of Bajaj Electronics tried to calm the situation and spoke to the latter for the same and finally they got convinced in providing a replacement. The only explanation that they were able to provide is that the problem might have come up while doing the transportation and such problems only arise 1 in 100. Nevertheless it was real hard time in resolving this issue as the two weeks have been a mix of agony, distress and pure tension. I never thought I would get so many add-ons after buying a product from here.


I just wanted to tell one thing to all the Shop / Mall Owners, Customer is god dont make a fool of him. If he is trying to tell something then try to listen to it and put yourself in the shoes of customer to feel it. Give respect to get respect. Make one customer happy and in lieu get a credit of hundreds.
