Hello All,

I have purchased this Discover 150cc on October 17th, till date I have completed 300 kilometers. Before purchasing this bike my search started somewhere in August 2011. Basically I wanted a good commuter bike where my wife can sit comfortably(means ladies should have a reasonable bike height so that they can easily sit and get down easily), also I wanted a bike with good mileage and pick-up, when I say pick-up I don’t want to race around with other bikes on road, I just wanted the pick-up which will be used when needed. So that’s why I have decided to go for 150 cc.

So, started my search with Pulsar, Unicorn and when I enquired, I felt they are tagged with little high pricing and after seeing that I thought of going for 125 cc segment, but all of a sudden I have seen this 150 cc discover on-road and thought of testing this bike. When I have done the test drive I really flattered with its pick-up which I did not expect at all and the basic features like self and kick start option and powerful battery and handling and seating which my wife liked a lot when she compared with other 150cc bikes, she was pretty comfortable with its height. And when I heard the price tag I really surprised and its less than 60, 000/- on-road.

But of course we could get the things which will come within 60 K, but those are the features and specifications which one cannot miss and which are all required for a commuter bike. So when I compared this price tag with other 150cc bikes, I get a difference from 5000 – 15000 rupees. So I have decided to go for it, as it suffices my basic requirements.

And when it comes to performance, this bike has got nice pick-up and excellent shock absorbers and a reasonable weight which is approximately 15 to 20 kilos lesser than the other 150 cc bikes. And it’s giving a mileage of 55 / kmpl, and which is again highest mileage among the current 150cc segment. I hope it might increase after my first service. If it gives 60 kmpl, I will be very happy because, that was one of my criteria / expectation while I was selecting this bike.

Also I liked the headlamp lighting which covers your road pretty well. And one cannot forget it’s amazing torque, you can really drive this vehicle at 35 km/hr in 5th gear, all these things you can see when you are driving this bike without having a co-passenger. If someone sitting behind you, then this bike behaves little bit different and of course it manages reasonably well but not like other 150cc segments. I would still say that it’s OK to bear such behaviors when you don’t travel regularly with a co-passenger.

The 240mm front disc break is really good and you can find this 240mm disc break in both Pulsar and Unicorn too, also this has got better(not best) tyres which provides reasonably some good grip, but I am not sure how it behaves in wet roads, that I need to still test.

Also the gear shift is bit harder, when you try to come back from 2nd to 1st gear, I observed that when I try to come to neutral from 1st gear, I have to press the gear liver bit hard. I am not sure I am the only person who is facing this issue with Discover150cc or if someone else also experienced the same issue in the past. Please suggest me something here.

The bike is just perfect when you are maintaining your speed at 50 to 60 km/hr, but when you try to cross these figures, it starts shouting and shaking. But as long as you are within the above said figures you and your bike will be just fine. I think this bike will definitely not suitable for the persons who look for some sporty looks and speedy behaviors. We can say that strictly it’s a family bike with some good pick-up and great mileage.

Finally it’s a very good “value for money bike” unless you are satisfied with the minimum and default features which it has got and should keep the expectations low. I guess if you can maintain this bike properly(not this one, but any bike of course) with proper check-up and regular services, this will definitely serve you more than expected.

Have a safe drive.
