On 30th July 2012 , I have purchased this vehicle after doing through research of various 125 cc brands. ENGINE: good engine (BS III specifiation) with some good technical modifications. engine cooling will be better compared to coventional discover models. 4 valves make the engine to achieve higher revolutions and especially CV carburator with choke facility, really this is good change bajaj has done in this discover model, eliminating autochoke failures which is responsible for starting problems and knocking/clicking sounds in the engines of conventional discover series. I have installed CR9EIX , NGK iridium sparkplugs in the engine, good pickup and smoothness also increased.
After 500kms, I would like to put HONDA 4T oil , which I feel is better compare to Bajaj oils(as per my experience with my present bikes) So overall full marks to BAJAJ DISCOVER ST ENGINE. WHEELS: Both Front and Rear wheels are good look wise and front wheel braking is also good with petal disc. Only setback is it should have had tubeless tyes like in Honda shine, which will give extra confidence during regular rides/long journeys. Over all the look of the vehicle is very good, with good fairing headlamp.It is very easy to Change Headlight bulb also by unscrewing those side 2 screws, near front shock absorbers.(it is very difficult to change headlight bulbs in older discover models).
Already, I had changed my headlight to 4300k HID BULB with AC BALLAST, with which I am getting excellent lighting and shortly I want to install 2004 old bajaj discover Round headlight with the above AC HID, for precise and focussed lighting.I would like to suggest using PHILIPS XTREME VISION 60/55W also for increased lighthing(Shortly I will upload the images also of my bike with Round headlight with 4300k HID). MILEAGE: Still I am very young with this vehicle , not much idea about the mileage part, but confident that It will give atleast 60+.
Shortly I will update more about this vehicle . to sum it up about this byke as per my experience PROS: 1) Smooth BS III Engine with reliability 2) DC Lighting with good looks. CONS: 1) Seat is little hard and Bajaj claims that this is a commuter bike but created great itch with the heavily elevated pillion. At lease they should given commuter style seat(Flat seat/should have reduced the height of pillion seat ) So overall good bike till now I am happy with this byke. This is only my opinion , I do not want to hurt any body's sentiments and likings VINDISEL
Dear friends after 17 days experience with my bike I would like to upload photos of my bike modifications of headlight and speedometer. shortly I will upload the photos of my headlight powerful lighting pictures, which are really amazing and 100% sure that any bike enthusiast will love to have this type of lighting for their night drives.
Right now, I am getting 56 kmph with this new bike , changed the oil with 10w-30 Honda oil , which is not satisfactory to my bike, later changed with 20w-50 castrol activ-x extra, now getting very smooth ride and I love the bike engine sound and smooth ride on highways.
Really 20w-50 is ideal (either bajaj oil or castrol oil) I strongly suggest to discover st.
Have a look on my uploaded photos of bike modifications. Items used are
1) Pulsar stay assembly(chrome) rht & lht original.
2) Bajaj discover 125 cc round headlight assembly by lumax original with pilot lamp
3) Bajaj discover 125 cc speedometer with wiring changed as it is from discover st
4) hid 4300k AC digital bulb and AC hid blaster with wiring kit from Hong Kong.
Entire change of this system costed me Rs:3500/- approx.
