Hi...my name is Anand Sharma...from Hisar (Haryana), purchased Discover in 2004....It was the 2nd & 3rd bike that we purchased (hisar) one by me & another by my cousin. My cousin bike clocked more than 80, 000 km. & mine 60, 000. I m new to mouthshut & found it a great place to take & give advice & it is my first review.so coming to the review ( its about my bike only-clocked 60, 000 km.).
As you may know discover is a good cornering tool and well-balanced & comfortable bike. Its very much true except for sitting position & its bit hard seat which can give u back aches during long drives. Lets go step by step:- Engine:- Its has good power and pick up with decent mileage of 60 km pl. but badly lacks refinement. I think bajaj just under-powered pulsar's engine without much R&D on it. engine is not at all comfortable after speed of 55, it generates vibrations and I say bad engine for highway but good one for city riding. It is mileage is good when u ride it up to 60.
After that it drop badly. Comfort:- As I told u its good in terms of confronting potholes but bad in terms of ergonomics. Reliability:- I changed timing chain at 50, 000 kms. and change brakes, engine kit(rings, piston), chain-kit at 60, 000. Silencer also because it got divided in to 2 pieces itself(for both the bikes)....quality of exhaust of all bajaj bikes is not good at all as they get spoiled after 2 yrs. and cost u more than 3000 bucks.
One more thing .....might be odd but once its front shocker leaked. Handling & Control:- Its good for city riding but bad for highway as bike generates lotta vibrations after 60 kmph speed. Its wheelbase is good, it is stable, zippy but seriously lacks fifth gear. And also its gearbox is also bad one....lacks refinement badly. Looks:- personally I m not a looks enthusiast....and it depends on personal taste. But on other people comments I m rating it 4. Conclusion:- Its powerful, zippy, good for city riding but bad one in terms of refinement, gearing, ergonomics.
