DISCOVER DISCOVERED. Review on Bajaj Discover 100

Hi people .. I am writing this review to tell you the fact’s about the NEW DISCOVER….well this machine almost took the market ..this bike is two month old now and I already see many of these machines on the road..

Bajaj offers them in three VARIENTS …the top end one sport’s a disc, alloy wheels, and a rev counter, electric starter. The next one comes with a nice bikini fairing and 130mm drum brakes, electric starter . The bottom one comes with A big GLASS BEAM ROUND HEAD LAMP ..and with no electric starter..

Let’s start with the technical feautures

PERFOMANCE;;0-60 6.5second’s, Top speed 107kmph

PRICE;; Rs 37,000 bottom end version, top end version Rs 42,750[ ex-showroom hyderabad]

I went to varun motors Vijayawada for a test drive..THE people at the showroom told the top end version was not available for test drive .So I test drove the bottom end version the road’s were filled with traffic that day as it was Christmas Eve..i took this test drive especially after the sun set because I want test it light’s e.t.c..

The accelaration is smooth and I think it is the most powerful of the 125cc lot. And I always wanted to test how it is realy possible to drive the bike at 20km at 3rd gear. To my surprise it realy did drive at 25-30kmph in 4th gear.without any knock’s .. it Generates so WIDE POWER BAND I BET YOU WILL NEVER FEEL the lack of a fifth cog [fifth gear]…the suspension is best in class..it feels at home even in bad road’s..the head light is very good [I am driving the one with round glass head light]….it is very powerful indeed and I think is better than ‘’’the multi-reflector head lamp’s that we get as standard in most of the bikes today..it comes with Dunlop Zebra-y tires..they are of good quality and offer optimum grip on the tarmac….The drum brakes even work well but not as good as the disc…..THE DISC IS 240mm..It is same as the one on the pulsar dtsi …..It has a effective long travel suspension , and a wonderful chassis…this one produces good torque at the lowest of revs ..torque stays well above 1Kgm from 3500-6500 rpm..in short I must say they have created a engine which produces a good amount of torque at low revs..

The 11.5Bhp peak power it produces is a head of the rest in it’s segment…..it slices past 60kmph in 6.5 sec’s [claimed by bajaj]……. INSIDE the engine light valves and piston pin and thin con rod and heavy crank combine to form a low friction engine…

MILEAGE:::::IT is claimed to have 65kmpl in REAL LIFE DRIVING CONDIDTION’S and this figure Is just claimed one ..MOST of the discover owner’s that I know say it gives around 55-60kmpl..after two services and a couple of thousand showing on the odo..

Light’s & electrical’s::::The head light is very good of the base varient and the top two variants have pulsar styled Pilot light’s in the head light.. I can’t comment on the head light of the varient’s with fairing …the Tail light superb and blinker’s are good too…the bottom end varient also has a pass switch….THE DIAL’S are the con’ s of this bike ..i don’t like the red speedo meter..it is not of good quality and do not offer a decent visibility. The switch gear also is not of good quality.. It lacks an engine kill switch…….the handle is made of steel and is not coated with any alloy’s..IT IS shiny and look’s akward……….. all these details are an attempt to REDUCE THE PRICE… the machine is certainly built to a price………..AND THE SIDE PANEL’S LACK QUALITY ….and may be after 1-2yrs of use they may get dis-coloured .it has a ride control switch like the one seen in CT100

Their is a new gizmo added to it called Exhaus TEC which stand’s for “ Torque expansion chamber” it joins the exhaust pipe as it passes under the foldable foot peg’s.The box creates the same effect as a two-stroke expansion chamber and it has benefits in terms of torque out put…

SUSPENSION::::it IS VERY GOOD I think the best of the segment..and this machine just dances of the pot holes.. The suspension feel’s supple and does an wonderful job keeping the wheels in touch with the ground ..

1..bajaj service:::. it is simply the company which offer’s the best service in the country

2..Optional stuff like 17’’alloy wheel’s are really of gr8 value..

3..SPARE PART’S;;spare part’s are very cheap and available in plenty

4..GOOD POWER , PICKUP & MILEAGE

5..Gr8 looks

Con’s

1...BUILT QUALITY;; THE built quality is not so good[defnetly not as good as the unicorn]

bajaj built it a bit flimsiy because it will help to reduce the price..As I said earlier this bike is certainly built to a price

2..MINISCULE……certainly this bike is shorter than the other’s ..this is good for short people but for 6 feet plus rider’s it may feel abit cramped..

3..DIAL’S&SWITCH GEAR::: the speedo meter and the other dial’s are not good ..Switch gear is of poor quality too

all in all this bike indeed is a head turner..but should you by one? It is up to you

SUGGESTION’S ::::: If you like the yamaha fazer’s alien looking eye’s go for it ..It has high built quality only next to Unicorn….Now it comes in a limted edition with disc brake and with international flame graphics…[it looks so good] ..or go for top end BAJAJ DISCOVER
