Ello MouthShut Visitors,
This review is based on long term(5+ years) use of Bajaj Discover 125 Dts-i, This is a very solid bike and very good for rough use, but this makes the bike feel a little heavy. If some one is looking for this model, they can get it only second hand, but buy it only if it is in very good condition.
It started like this, when new this bike had surge of unsaturated power in 3rd gear.and it felt great to give in more gas here., may be due to the Exhaust tech. But there was hell lot of vibration on touching speeds of just 60+ which came down to bearable limits after 3-4 service and regular driving on speeds of 60+.very unrefined engine.its better now!
I have done 100+ KMPH on this bike quite frequently and it feels very disciplined. After replacing the Tyre it feels more glued to the road, the front is 90/90 MRF and the rear is 100/90 MRF. I have also replaced the silencer with an after market one, and the air filtering is now taken care by K&N filter. I have also replaced the head lamp bulb with Halogen bulb and the night driving is great while returning from office.
My bike has done 45, 000 Kms and is still in a very good condition, it can be used for another 5 years without any problem. The total kms seem to be less as I also have HH Passion Plus and YAMAHA FZ 16 to have fun with.
The mileage of this bike started from 65KMPL and touched 70KMPL.but it dropped to 60KMPL in a year.slowly to 55KMPL and now its just over 50+KMPL.one of the reason being the great MRF tyres.you have to loose couple of kms to have better grip on road and that makes your ride safer.
Some of the problems with this bike is that the front suspension fork keep leaking and no one is able to fix it, not even the showroom guys.this create a need to top up the fork oil regularly. I had to replace the swing arm as it got rusted and it broke.there should be a fiber mud guard to protect the swing arm.still bajaja haven't learnt .
On an overall note, this is a great all rounder, but it still can't stop you from being tempted to desire of the latest great looking bikes in the market today(Aug 2010).
