Continued from Bajaj Discover 135cc - 1

Discover 135 cc :*

What facts that Bajaj person told were interesting. He told that there is some open chain concept (don't know the exact concept) which is not present even in 150 cc segment, it was equipped with auto start which is unlikely in lower cc segments. The figure of cc was attractive atleast for me, since it was not high as Pulsar or Karizma and not too low as Platina or Luna !! ;)

It is a mid power bike with surprisingly light weight, the fuel capacity is above 11 ltrs with newer technology of 'DTSi' engine (don't know what is that, but knew that it is something good !). The other good thing with Bajaj bikes is switch for "Ride control"; if you make it ON it gives better average because with "Ride control" ON, bike expects the rider to ride the bike at not very high speeds. This is mainly meant for city riding, where you will not need/reach high speeds.

To deal with rough surface on road, the bike is equipped with some "Nytrogen Shock absorbers" and to control high speed safely, it has "disc brakes". Note that disc brakes are essential when you want to stop the bike suddenly without any slippery or hazard. Both these features are not there in lower(110, 125) cc segments.

The milage part for which I was very much concern, now I am satisfied with that too. I generally use 'speed' petrol. I don't know whether because of that, but my bike has grown in average. It started from 49, 55 and 68+ ! I am editing this part now, After around 6 months (Aug-2007 to April-2008) I am done with all the 4 services and bike's milage has been stabilizing to 60+ kmpl. The potiential reason could be inability to maintain 4th gear continuously on Bangalore roads. If average decreases below 50-55, I will surely write again in Mouthshut as a complain. :) Other technical facts can be found in Wikipedia or Google.

So, I can conclude as of now that for the person who are not very much in pro-biking and are interested more in milage and price of the bike; Discover 135 cc,will be probably the best choice for them. You will get moderately good power as well as milage both in this segment. The bike is good for long drives also.

e.g.I had brought this bike to Nandi Hills (a small hill point near Bangalore), but I din't feel any stress. The total journey of the day was 150 Kms in 6.5 hrs.

The small features included in this bike along with a very good looks makes this bike one of the best choice for today's time.

*Few Negative Points about dealer :

*This might be useful for the persons who are purchasing from Bangalore. The complain with the service of Bajaj is common among many customers. I am not exception in that. I purchased it from Khivraj Bajaj, Domlur, Bangalore. Here are few points to note:

(1) Check all your lights/bulbs/batteries properly. I found my side light not working in less than a week. They will not give gaurantee for any bulb. Later I found my back  light not working. Verify that whether the battery for horn/self start is fitted properly in the left side of seat. Because it may work initially, but will get loose easily. The same happened with me twice. If any of your bulbs are not working, replace them immediately, otherwise it will result in leakage of battery (not sure, the service person told me; plz verify).

(2) Try to avoid free services at Khivraj. Or still if choose them, plz assure that they should not just wash the bike and give it back to you ! Prefer to go for other Bajaj service centres at Bansankari. They are among the best in city.

(3) Don't spend money for so called "Tafflon coating" (500/- for 5). I was offered during the purchase and still regretting for that. The coating I heard is not worth the amount (lasts for few days only), moreover there is no flexibility(as they claim) unless you give them for the service. Other than service time there is a 50/- extra charge!! Better to go for other coatings available in market or other service stations. They are little expensive then this(450/- for 3; including washing), but true  value for money.

The review is bit long, but I hope it is useful. Thanks !
