2 years and 5000+ kms into the Bajaj discover, here is my review of the machine.
START UP:
From the very start the bike had a starting problem with the the kick start. The electronic start is good, but during winters, it typically takes 5 mins to start, after repeated tries. The kick start on my machine does not work at all! I complained about this to the Bajaj service guys initially during the first service, but they ignored it. And if the bike is unused for more than a week, then it sure takes time to start(3-4 mins). Bad rating for this, but now I am used to this more or less!
MILEAGE:
This is where the bike scores, mileage during the first 6 months was 60+, during the next 6 months it was 65+. Last 1 year average mileage has always been 50+. Absolutely satisfied & zero complaints on the mileage front.
RIDING:
Riding is a breeze on the machine. But be warned sudden braking at high speeds(even 50 kms+) leads to the bike wobbling out of control and skidding. The bike is light weight and is easily swayed to the sides by containers/lorries on highways! if you want a bike to navigate the small roads and by lanes and commute for your daily needs, this is it. Its very rugged; I had only 1 service in the last 18 months(laziness) and my bike has not given me a single riding problem(other than the start up). Pillion riding is also very comfortable, rear seat is longer, hence more comfortable even when pillion is sitting single side. The tyres have lasted well(but then I have done only 5000 kms).
MAINTENANCE:
Like I said, I did very little maintenance on my bike in the last 18 months, but it has not given me any reason for complaints, the cylinders do clink clink on gear change sometimes, but this would happen to any bike not serviced for such a long time. A rugged bike for daily commuter use, is how I would describe it. And a word of advice to those based in thane, Maharashtra. Please do not go to the Bajaj service center, for service, they do very little, sometimes steal petrol and charge heavy! Just do the first and second service from them. if you can avoid them, nothing like it.
LOOKS:
Of course there are hunkier bikes in the market, but this is very decent and respectable looking in its category.
SUMMARY:
A good, comfortable & rugged bike for daily use, be it commuting to office or your daily/weekly shopping.
Thanks for reading my review!
