I've read through many reviews on Bajaj Avenger and I think I should add my views as well. I'm sure this is gonna help those who are planning to buy a new one or those who already own one..

Just a heads up about myself and my Ride!! Till date I have covered about 20, 000km on this bike which is about 1yr 4months old and still going strong.. Very strong indeed..

I travel daily on this bike for about 40-50 km on weekdays and weekends are meant for long rides or riding within B'lore city. I've had all sorts of experience on this ride other than accidents, thanks to avenger's build and control. This bike has been to a lot of places in Karnataka, couple of places in TN, and just 2 places in Andhra.. Kerala is next.. Let me begin with few negative effects of this bike..

  1. Engine bearing has some sound but that is characteristic of Bajaj bikes. Anyway my mechanic has taken good care of it so I don’t get to hear that much of noise.

  2. Chain slackens up a bit too fast and starts making noise.. i.e mainly due to the cable wire in rear breaks. Well you should lubricate the chain and tighten it up after every 750km.

  3. I was unhappy with the rear breaks for almost a year but my new mechanic has fixed that as well.. it used to make a lot of screeching sound. in traffic I didn’t have to use horn much.

4.  Pillion seat is really bad.. my frens curse me a lot for that. well even I felt that once when I was on the pillion seat (i rarely sit behind).

  1. The rear view mirror is not up to the mark.. it vibrates a lot and not properly adjustable to give good Road view.

  2. U turns are tough.. but who cares.. just tilt the bike a bit , slow down a little and you'll have people eyeing you.. U take U turn and people are admiring you.. and the girl behind you will be holding you a little tighter :) obviously a punch in the back follows for banking so much but its all worth it :D

  3. Going to neutral is tough while the engine is ON.. Anyway I rarely goto neutral.. at signal I directly kill the engine when in 1st gear.. Bike starts smoothly even then so I don’t care much..

  4. Ya the gear box and clutch plate is bad. Even my mechanic says that.. Well that’s Bajaj and I can’t help that part..

Now the good side of the Bike.. and I’m sure you are gonna ignore the above comments..

Just ride the Bike once and you'll feel like God.. You'll forgive everyone.. Thank fully my mechanic is really good and he has fixed almost all the above probs.

As I mentioned, I ride the bike almost 50km daily.. Which comprises of pathetic B’lore traffic and 15KM of highway ride..

Bike has really good power and worthy pickup.. I have smoked up hell lot of riders on the highway..

I've hit top speed of 120km but that was only couple of times.. lots of good stuffs my fren.. let me try pointing it out.

  1. Pickup of 0-60km in about 6sec.. Tried and tested..

  2. Top speed of almost 120km.. Not recommended.. it ruins your mileage and you just do not enjoy the trip as you miss the beauty of nature around.

  3. Cruises at 80km/hr very easily.. I usually cruise between 60-80km. I've been on many long rides..

  4. Bike is so comfortable for the rider that you can cruise for an hr continuously without feeling tired even a bit. Bike engine does not get heated up because of the Oil cooling mini radiator.. thats a good thing..

  5. Brakes are awesome.. I've averted many accidents because of that.. For those who are new to disc brake or avenger for that matter.. Hit the rear Brake lightly and then both the brakes soft or hard as required.. bike will stop without skidding even a bit.. it survives even wet roads.. rear tyre does not have enough grip for dusty or tar roads with sand.. it skids terribly.. but again there is a good part in the rear skid.. you do not topple over,  the wheel will skid sideways, so the bike is still in control and you do not fall off.. Tried and tested...

  6. The seating position and posture provides full comfort to leg, back and shoulder.. Sports bike tend to injure your back and shoulder but this is just too comfortable.. I've had a fractured shoulder and trust me, there is no bike that i'd trade Avenger for.

  7. Head lights are really good and the most powerful among all bikes in India.. Those complaining about the headlight, please have the guys adjust the focus of the headlight.. My Ride to Pondicherry from B'lore was at night.. 320KM.. Trust me.. you feel really safe and confident.. my other biker frens were in fact riding behind me to utilize the headlight of Avenger..

  8. Bike has a very good control.. be it in traffic, curved roads of Nandi hills or Ooty for that matter. Bike is powerful enough to take you uphill in 3rd and 4th gear.

  9. just imagine this.. You are cruising at about 70km/hr and you suddenly need to speed up ( to overtake 4 trucks in a row before the  on coming vehicle comes in front of you, or smoke up a rider who is sticking to you too much or a cab guy for that matter), all you need to do is rev it up and you'll feel as if you are powering up from 0-60km in 6 secs ( little exaggerated but just imagine).. You tell me how it feels when you’ve easily done just what’s in your mind.. It feels like God my fren..

  10. Mileage is anywhere between 38-44km/ltr in city ( at times I’m God forgiving everyone and sometimes I become The Punisher ) and about 43-48km/ltr on highway.. well you know how I ride on Highways..

  11. As for looks.. its really good. and you  know that else you’d not be reading the reviews here..

My frens.. Just ride the bike.. go on long rides and I guarantee you that you’ll forget everything..

This bike needs a little attention.. well not as much as your girlfren or wife..

1.Keep it clean and shiny.. it looks good even when dirty but you need to keep the chrome finish for long and other parts rust free..

2.Clean /lubricate the Chain and tighten it up after every 750KM and 500Km if you ride doubles..

3.Tyre pressure 22 in front and 28 in the back.. it gives perfect balance and little jerk ( rear suspension is little bad)

4.Don’t keep your Rear suspension too loose else that’ll give bouncy feeling and the Chain gets slack faster.

5.Warm your bike a bit say 60 secs before you ride on. Well I Start the engine and then put on my helmet.. so that gives decent enough time..

6.Whenever you fill fuel.. try and ensure that you always fill up your tank, , gives better performance and more mileage..

Well based on your comments I can add more of Do’s and Dont’s

From my personal experience, please ensure that your mechanic is good.. The Pro Biking Guys, Castrol Bike Zone guys ruined my bike.. Thanks to Raymond , my new mechanic.. my Bike is in perfect shape right now..

Other guys had made my bike so rough that I was planning to sell it off. but now.. I’m planning to keep it for years now..

Even the pillion riders enjoy the short rides because of the back rest and extra space.. yes long distance is little painful but again Tea Break after every 60Km is well earned

This bike is my stress buster.. be it office crap, parents nagging to get married, pathetic traffic , stray dogs or lazy cows on roads, credit card bills.. I Forget all and forgive all.. I’m God on my powerful Chariot..
