Hi Everyone,

First of all, great bike. I am writing about the resale value of Avenger. This piece of information is for everyone out there opting for a second hand Bajaj Avenger.

Every advertisement that I have come across in the internet about Avenger have ridiculous price tags on them. The resellers think that if they post an ad on the net, they are bound to attract a naive buyer who does not know Avenger's resale value.

Here are some basic facts:-

  1. Avenger is an awesome bike. But, it does not have a good resale value. That is because middle class daily commuters do not opt for cruisers. Thats the reason you dont see a 40 year old dropping off his daughter to school on an avenger - looks odd.doesnt it?

  2. A person willing to buy an avenger is wealthy enough to buy it first hand. So, a price tag of around 60K is riduculous.I mean, what kind of a fool would not want to buy the bike first hand for just 10K more?

  3. A second hand Bajaj Avenger's resale value is around 35K to 40K plus or minus 5K depending on the condition of the bike and kms it has run.

I have a friend who had put up his red Avenger for sale. It had run 13000 kms giving a decent mileage of 35 kms/litre. He was greedy enough to put a price tag of 48K on it. I have to say, the common man is not so stupid after all. After around 4 months, he had to sell it for 39K.

Please be careful while buying. I have come across two fraudsters while wanting to buy one(I am not going to give you the exact details on them as this post might get removed if I do):-

I came across an ad recently. "Avenger with stylish windshield for sale". Reason for selling: Going abroad for long term. 17000 Kms run. Regularly serviced at Castrol Bike zone. Price: 50K. I went to see the bike with a mechanic. Just by hearing the sound of the engine and looking at the back wheel, he could say that the bike had run atleast 40000 kms. On further enquiry, I learnt that he s been saying that he is going abroad since 6 months desperately trying to cash in some profit.

Another ad went like this. Red Bajaj Avenger, 2005 model. Just 3000 kms run. Now, thats hard to believe. 4 years and just 3000 kms? was it locked in a showroom?

A message to the buyers:-

  1. *Please examine the bike thoroughly before buying.

*2. Let a mechanic have a look at it before you buy. He ll see things that you generally would never notice.

  1. Ask as to why he is selling the bike.

  2. Dont pay hefty sums. Note that a second hand Avenger is not worth more than 45K.

  3. Many of the resellers who stick to their ridiculous price tags keep posting the ads again and again hoping to catch a big fool. If you search for the resellers contact number, you will find many previous ads posted for the same bike.

  4. In short, **if you are paying more than 45K, you are being cheated.

A message to the resellers:-

  1. Please be reasonable while putting up a price tag. I know that you would have bought it for a hefty sum. You should ve thought about its resale value before you bought it.

  2. I know that a lot of them have put up tags of 50K, 55K, 60K and even 68K.ha ha 5K more and you get a brand new Avenger of your choice. Believe me, you really wont find such extremely foolish buyers.

Hope this information helped. See you.
