I own an Avenger from Bajaj for the past 2 and half months and so far this power beast is giving me good KICK and nice road drive. If you guys are from Bangalore you know what I mean when I drive my bike from Banasankari to Electronics City on Hosur Road everyday. My intention in buying this vehicle was clear - I NEED POWER and ofcourse at a good price. The earlier price tag in the form of Eliminator was prohibitive for my purse.

Gives me a comfort drive in normal and heavy traffic zones here in Bangalore. I love taking this bike for long drives and the response has been pretty smooth and quick in terms of road handling(with abrupt terrain changes), grip, responsive accelaration and nice feel. So far I have done more than 2700km on this bike - may be the fastest for anyone in 2 months.(Any comments from someone who done more km than me !?! Welcome). I get a good (its relative???) mileage of almost 38.4 in heavy traffic and 45-47 on high-way.

Here are some pros and cons of this bike:

Pros: Good handling of road, Grip - Thanks to the biggy rear tyre, Accelaration, Powerful engine, Nice looks - especially the big bro Harleyish tank.

Cons: Rear braking can be made even more responsive - sometimes the lever gets stuck (manufacturing QA guys in Bajaj, please look into this!!), Absence of fuel indication, Rear shocks hit the bottom as soon as I go over even a small pebble or a hump with a pillion rider, poor Clutch Lever (dangles from first week of buying)

Here are some issues I had while dealing with the bike and with the dealer:

  1. The handle lock got jammed and had to change it the very next day I bought the vehicle. Arey YAAR!! Hurts Indian sentiments very much. (Some one in Bajaj HEARING?????) Called up Bajaj in Pune and local office and spoke to some Product Manager who promised me the Sky about service and quality which am yet to see even after 2 months.

  2. The dealer's mechanic was very reluctant to fit the rear-view mirrors adjusted to my height. Ofcourse, I could make him do it with some push from the manager at the dealer's place.

  3. Absence of printed documents for bike's user manual, maintenance and tips (After all its a Cruiser!!)

  4. Has anyone tested this bike for more than 300km non-stop, well I seem to have done it. The heat dissipated by the engine during and after such a drive hits the driver a lot, especially on a hot day.(Some one in Bajaj HEARING?????)

Overall, its a great bike and India should see more powerful fellas like this on road. Its high time we taste the Power. If some one wants to buy this bike please go ahead and you will enjoy this. Mileage is also good for this kind of CC and size.

HEY GUYS!! HAD TO ADD THIS LINE SINCE MANY OF AVENGER USERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT LACK OF A ENGINE KILL SWITCH - I HAVE A SHORTCUT FOR THIS, WHEN U WANT TO KILL THE ENGINE JUST USE THE CHOKE - IT WORKS AND HAS WORKED FOR ME.
