Evolvement of society has always brought in eating houses in various corners of human settlement. These eating houses evolved into Restaurants , and restaurants in turn developed in various categories catering to various strata of society. In a country with people of different cultures , different economic strengths and exposure to world cuisine , one can expect a vast array of restaurants.

There are some restaurants though which cater to most of the layers of the society, Bageecha , situated in the heart of Chembur Station in the Swimming Pool complex and adjoining the vast Car Park is one of them. Started barely a year ago by an enterprising Punjabi family who have displayed expertise in other businesses in Chembur itself , this cosy Vegetarian restaurant serves authentic Punjabi Cuisine, Chinese cuisine , South Indian and the Fast food variety.

Its an open air court with colorful shamiana sheltering you from the elements. It would be difficult to mention how many it would seat, as the vast area around it enables the owners to put in extra tables as and when the crowd increases , putting an estimate around 10 tables with 4 in each could be seated at a time.

What to Eat here

Undoubtedly Punjabi is the forte … but lets start with starters and mind you there have been occasions where we have ended with starters as we kept on eating !!! The Pani Puris are fab , all the chats are ummmmmm lip smacking chatpata … The luscious Spring rolls with minced cabbage and host of other veggies bursting from within are a gastronomic delight !!! . The south Indian dosent disappoint barring the sambar but then no issues as I didn't come to eat the sambar in the first place.

The Rotis are yummmmy as they are made of Wheat or gehun rather than maida or refined wheat in other restaurants. Rotis made from Wheat are easier to digest and have that '' Maaaaaaaa '' feeling in them … and hey mothers day just passed by. The Paranthas are brilliant , stuffed to the core each and every nook and crevice jammed with the stuffing, try their Aaloo Paranthas and you will be stuffed. The subzis are great though a wee bit on the greasy side, it can be toned down though if mentioned while placing the order. The Veg Kadai and the Paneer Mohini are good, I liked the Dum aaloo Kolhapuri ummmm Spicy !!! . During the winters you must try their sumptuous Makki di Roti , the Golden yellow rotis with tiny pieces of minced onions with a nice blob of butter dancing feverishly leaving its goodness around to be eaten with the inimitable Sarson da Saag.

The Chinese just about passes muster being a trifle too oily , and the Paon Bhaji and other fast food dishes are good. For the Soup eaters I forgot to mention there are Chinese soups and for the dessert eaters an array of ice creams but… for me a Punjabi meal is incomplete with a Glass da Lassi , and better yet Kulfi Falooda but again .. the best here is Kulfi with Rabdi … amazing !!! the quantity though is a little less, but then we keep wanting more and more right …

The Service

The hosts are always there , welcoming you cheerfully into the restaurant , making sure you are tucked in perfect and everything is in order and always asking whether the food was alright and more importantly working on complaints if any. I Guess always more than the Food it's the personal touch you get in the restaurant makes you feel more comfortable. The staff is friendly and service is quick. They offer home delivery and you can pick up a parcel too .. A meal for four should cost you around the Rs 300 - Rs 350 range in a normal scenario.

The reason why its popular is first ... location , being near the car park families prefer thrusting their shopping adventures into the car , have a sumptuous meal and drive off , second being the inimitable service and third of course the food.

Come to the land of Satya …Chembur where the Food is great and warmth is aplently …
