Let the stars Shine on You :). Review on Bageecha, Marathahalli, Bangalore

Prologue

My First Time - One day we had gone to see a movie at Bangalore’s newly opened ‘Innovative Multiplex’ but couldn’t get the tickets for the matinee show so we bought the second show tickets. Now we had 2-3 spare hours in our hands and we were stuck up on a highway outside Bangalore.

We were four in all (2 couples)… we decided on going to some nearby restaurant to spend. My friend suggested a place he knew, called ‘Bageecha’ that was just about one kilometer away. Thus, we landed there around 6:30pm and boy… what a good time we had! What initially seemed like a flop plan turned out to be one of the best evening I ever had in Bangalore! Maybe it was the good company or maybe it was the place… even the movie later on turned out to be a fantastic one (Jhankar Beats!).

The Review

Place- It is situated around 2-3 kms ahead of Bangalore Airport on the way to Whitefield. Distance is almost perfect for whoever wants to runaway from city chaos and wants some peaceful and serene time. It is a good getaway from MG week end Traffic!

The moment you enter the place you’d be greeted some good murals, huts, waiting lounge, etc… immediately you can sense that it’s a good place. In the front side there are several huts where tables are arranged, you can choose to sit in large public huts or you can choose the small huts meant for those who are looking for some privacy… maybe a small group having party or something… though huts aren’t small enough to give enough privacy to couples ;)

But I would not recommend you to sit in any of the huts… instead there is something more in the backyard. When you enter the place… you have to take you vehicle inside as parking is in the back. There… near the parking area they have set up some 5-6 table in the lawn – Outdoors.

If you are with your girl or even a friend… the best place to sit is the lawn. You have tables with lit candles and as only 5-6 tables are there… it is never too crowded. You can have a nice candle lit date, and let the stars shine on you!

One added advantage of Bageecha’s location is that it comes directly in the line of Airport runway… hence you get a beautiful view of planes landing and taking off. Planes go so low that you actually enjoy it over there :)

Food – I cannot say its fantastic, but its good… and not expensive as well. My favorite dish over there is Andhra style Chilly Chicken. Yumm… its hot and delicious… have it with chilled beer and your girl… with planes flying over you… you could have a helluva good time.

The bad thing about the lawn is that as it’s a little away from kitchen and also it also kind of secluded from the main crowd, so you do not get a very good service.

One very negative thing is you never get a beer that is chill enough… I always have to send the waiter back to fetch a chiller one. Sometimes he comes back with a better one, sometimes he doesn’t :-|

To summarise, I can say it’s a very good place for a group of any size, for parties, double dates, etc. I’d NOT recommend anybody to go there alone with a girl. In fact I would recommend that one should NOT go to any place on a highway alone with a girl. Always take a friend with you… best is have a double date with your friend.

Epilogue

Ever since my first time, it has become my routine to go to that place in the early evenings, buy second show ticket from Innovative on the way and watch the movie on your way back… when you are little high ;)
