Baga ...... The BEACH. Review on Baga Beach

This is not the first time I have been to Goa. That is one place that really allows you to de-tox (!?!?!?!) ...... I meant the mind, the tired soul. Am sure that many would have experience what I am saying. But this account is one of 5 friends spending 5 days in Goa, in & around Baga.

We were there in the last week of March. Some would say that it is indeed hot to be there at that that time of the year. Would agree in part. But when you are lying under that umberella, with a chilled pint in your hand & with that wonderful breeze blowing across your tired stretched out body - that my friend is an experience that does not allow you to feel any of the rays of the scorching sun - trust me !

We stayed at Zinho's, an over grown, very warm guest house literally 2 minutes walk from the beach. The room rent - 1000 bucks a day for an AC room. We were 3 in one & 2 in the other so the cost was just perfect. (if ur looking for a non AC one then the cost is close to 850). Most of the daytime we were on the sunbed of the Safil's shack, again owned by Zinho's. We hired open gypsey's, rode honda activa's, discovered the sunset at Anjana, strolled into Ingo's night bazaar at small Baga, looked for bargains in the flea market (again Anjana), walked barefoot on the Calangute ........ we did a lot . 5 male friends that we were, we surprised even ourselves with our enthusiasm !

Just in case anyones interested to know the gypsey can be hired for 1000 bucks a day & the activa's for 150 a day. And there are plenty of people who mill around all over the place making you get one of those.

It was almost college re-visited when we found ourselves outside Mambo's (rocking hangout night club) looking for 'girls' so that we could go in for free. No paying money & making a stag entry was not an option. In our buzy city lives we do buy almost anything paying any amount that is required, dont we. But the idea here was to re-live college, when were were broke or had just enough to enter a pub & have a couple of drinks. The idea was to re-live that hope - will she accompany me till only inside so that I can pay nothing , and then for all that I care , once inside, she could go her way & we, ours. There was this strange feeling (again revisiting) when we were refused with impolite shrugs but then we were 5 of us & getting 5 'single' girls to come together wasn't the most simple of probabilities !

Finally we did manage to enter, with a bunch of 5 russian girls, who understood very little english. One of our 'little school boy faced' friends managed to do the trick for us. Inside , we bought them a couple of drinks & they went their way - we went ours !

There are joys in some of the simple things of life. Sometimes we forget them / miss out on them altogether in the hum-drum of our daily routines. And just as that is happening is the time to rest & re-enliven ones tired souls with a trip like this.

Ofcourse at Baga, there are 'eye candies' galore. All shapes & sizes. With different levels of clothing (ofcourse sometimes the sun does get very hot you know !). Eye candies for either sex & so there is never a dull moment in case you want to not lay down on our tummy & soak in the sun.

i also want to say here that other beaches in north Goa, some I mentioned earlier, didnt even come close to Baga in terms of the atmosphere. We thought that may be there were others that would be worth a decko, but they failed horribly. We always found ourselves back on Baga, which till 5 in the morning is brimming with life.

So guys, if you have tired souls slogging ur asses at work & have no time at all to take a break - then you must exactly do that. Take a BREAK. NAd if the sea & the sun is what what you love, then head for GOA. And if its 'the' life that you want to see, head straight for BAGA. If you could round up some old friends, then even better - theres nothing like that. Am sure for those who are married, your wives would understand. Mine, lovely one, did !
