This is the only Stephen King book I have read so far and I didn't like it even a bit.
I used to read a lot of discussions on King's novels, I have seen people who are hard core fans of King. So, I wanted to give his books a try. Even though, I was not much of a horror genre person, I decided to pick one of his books.
Bag of Bones started out with a strong grip, but as the story progressed, it became very predictable. The story is horror - about ghosts. I was told that King is really good at horror. For me, this book was more humorous than horrifying.
King's writing is not very impressive. He is a good story teller, not a good writer. His books are like Dan Brown's books. One successful book and people go ga-ga over him. I found the book so disappointing, I wanted to stop reading it in between. I continued reading only hoping that the story might get better.
The story could have been much shorter. The pages have been stuffed with things that are not really needed. The book could have been easily shortened by 200 pages!
Horror fans might like this book, but it's definitely not for me. I have been told that his Bachman series is good. I might give it a try, when I have fewer things on my TBR list.
