We are talking about another famous and spiritual temple situated in Uttarakhand. The temple has its named identical to its city name, or can say that the name of the city is named on the name of the temple.

If a name has come in your mind, yes, you are right, its the very famous temple of Uttarakhand, The Badrinath Temple.

The Badrinath temple is located in Garwah Hills tracks of the Chamoli District. It is situated on the banks of Alaknanda River at an elevation of 3, 133 m(10, 279 ft) above the mean sea level.

The Badrinath Temple is also known as Badrinarayan Temple. The temple is basically a Hindu Temple dedicalted to Lord Vishnu, the temple is one of the Char Dham of the Char Dham's of India and is also known as "Chota Char Dham Pilgrimage Site".

The temple is also famous as its one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu who is worshipped as Badrinath(the holy shrine for Vaishnavites).

The temple is considerably different than other temples in terms of its opening time or visiting hours. As we know that the Badrinath temple is located in Garwahl Hills tracks of the Chamoli District. It is situated on the banks of Alaknanda River at an elevation of 3, 133 m(10, 279 ft) above the mean sea level, so it faces a very extreme condition of climate every year as its on the Himalayan Region, so as a result the Temple of Badrinath remains closed for about half of the year, although every year it gets opened at the end of the month of April and remains open till the end of November. Although the temple remains opened for only about half months of the year(Six months), it still has a very large number of visitors. It is said to be one of the most visited pilgrimage site having recorded about 1, 060, 000 visitors every year only in six months.

Taking about the temple, the temple has an image of the presiding deity worshipped in the temple is about 1 m(3.3 ft) tall, a black stone statue of Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan. The statue is considered by many Hindus to be one of eight swayam vyakta kshetras, or self-manifested statues of Vishnu.

There is no historical record about the temple, but there is a mention of the presiding deity Badrinath in Vedic Scriptures indicating the presence of the temple during the Vedic Period(?1750–500 BC).  As per some accounts, the temple was a Buddhist shrine till the 8th century and Adi Shankra Charya converted it to a Hindu temple.

The temple is full of crowd in the pilgrimage season as everyone makes efforts to visit this temple when it’s opened as it opens only for about half of the year.
