Intelligent ideas are born to intelligent persons. But a common man only can use those some wrong ideas the right ways. In BADMAASH COMPANY, our friends do the same things. They think differently, act pratically and do the sins heavenly!
BADMAASH COMPANY is something like you have seen before in Hollywood and even in Bollywood, but still we can't stop because of it's great promotion and star power! The protagonists of the film have a real-life experience about life, honesty and there mistakes. But all in all, a film can be better, very better. Even though, BADMAASH COMPANY not memorable, but enjoyable! Parmeet Sethi beautifully transforms the characters in the film from innocent to pride ones and also the film. In simple way, BADMAASH COMPANY is the pick of the summer!
1994, Mumbai SORRY Bombay. Four youths, Karan(Shahid Kapoor), * Zing(Meiyang Chang), Chandu(Vir Das) and Bulbul(Anushka Sharma) decide to uplift their life by starting an import business. Little they know about it, a time later, it turns well and they become millionaires by doing it geniusly and a little wrong way. But a coin has two sides, while they have an other side of themselves, internal fights, consequences break them apart.
The first half is something which we call entertainment. From the first trip to Bangkok, Shahid-Anushka's lovestory and their business ideas keep you glued to the screen. The film focuses only on the development of the characters funnily and intelligently in the first half. However, a business ideas go above the head.
It's the second half that is slow and could have been better. The transformation in USA, the fights and then Shahid's big trial of apology is too slow to match with. Apparently, the film could have had been cut for 10 minutes and the last part is a bit of drag.
Parmeet Sethi said that it took only 6 days to complete the script and if he had improved it, the film would have been much better. But it is a finest effort from a first-time director and lucky to work with a big production house. But he could have chopped the seocnd half easily. Even a better screenplay could have done good. And my boy! they didn't gave english bad words in 1994 and didn't wore short clothes in India. But it is just film! Also, the plots are not connected to each other. And how many times they are going to go Bombay to Bangkok. But it's business!
Music of the film is good. It matches the sync and works on the right time. Cinematography is also good especially that of USA.
Shahid Kapoordelivers his performance powerfully. He has own style of acting which he matches in the film. However, a couple of scenes, over-reacting could be avoided. Despite having scrowls, he delivers most importantly in the last 30 minutes very marvelously. And he looks smart, sexy and cool!
Anushka Sharma make overs very differently from her previous film. But she plays her role very nicely. The only limit is that she dosen't has experience. Her talent needs to showcase in more films and she could prove it! Despite this, she has her own share with other cast.
Meiyang Changhas a varid role but he does it very nicely. He should now start getting offers!
Vir Dasis a finest actor. Never does he dissapoints and according to me, is the most powerful performer of the film. His laughs, dialogues, pretty smiles has something different and that makes him a brilliant actor!
All in all, BADMAASH COMAPANY is an enjoyable film. Only if the second half could have better, it would be a must-watch. Watch it for the cast and an intelligent story!
