Bachna Ae Haseeno has a commendable script. It chronicles the romantic exploits of Raj who is perfect example of a scoundrel.

Though with a good script it fails to capture the maturity of the central character. Kunal Kohli’s ‘Hum Tum’ also had shown the character played by Sail Ali Khan developing with the passage of years.

The narrative is in first person and Raj(Ranbir) along with his friends first land up in Switzerland where he meets the first girl. That is a Punjabi girl Mahi played by Minisha who is waiting for her Raj from DDLJ. Ranbir seizes this opportunity to appear like an avatar of Raj and sweep her off her feet. Drawbacks of this story were that Ranbir does not look like a teenager and Minisha kind of overdoes her bit.

The first evidence of Raj’s scoundrel like qualities emerges as he boasts of his exploits with Mahi to his friends. The girl goes back to Amritsar. This is 1996.

2002 and Raj is wrapped around the very hot Radhika played by Bipasha. He is working in the gaming division of Microsoft and Radhika is a struggling model. I think Microsoft is in Hyderabad not Mumbai. The live in relation never becomes a marriage, thanks to the second evidence of Raj’s scoundrel qualities.

2007 and Raj is in Australia and he comes across Gayatri played by Deepika. I guess for the first time he realizes that he has a heart and after suffering the pangs of love, he goes for a vacation of 6 months when he ends up apologizing to Mahi and Radhika who has now become Sriya.

The movie portion dealing with Bipasha and Ranbir is really good with Bips giving a power-packed performance. Her screen presence somehow overshadows Ranbir. With her balanced acting and dialogue deliveries, it’s a role well crafted out. It is Bipasha’s character which emerges out as the woman of substance unlike that of Deepika who also acts the character of a well focused individual. She is also the person who gives such an apt explanation of her being abandoned by Ranbir.

One of the most touchy scenes of the movie is her in a shadi sari sitting on the steps in the rain on her wedding day. We were a group of girls and boy how we clapped when she said that, “Meri zindagi mei aisi koi kami nahi jo ek aadmi pura kar sakta hai” Feminist isn’t it? But then isn’t it true for so many women out there.

Deepika’s character begins on a good note but melts into oblivion when she is shown sliding those love notes for Ranbir below his apartment door. It’s like…What the hell? Isn’t she the no-nonsense girl who juggles between two jobs and studying management?

Is Ranbir worth it? Was she actually after Ranbir’s money?

This forum is open guys…put in your opinions.

Ranbir Kapur looks cute and he is sure to go a long way with his histrionic capabilities. He is lucky to lock his lips with all the three ladies here and watch out the one with Bips in the elevator.

The ending is another disappointment. Why cant movie makers in India be realistic?

I was actually associating the title'Bachna Ae Haseeno'.lo mai aa gaya with the'Jab se tere naina' song of Saawariya. Ranbir's act there would have given any heroine a challenge and he does look a lot like his mother. So do women fall for guys with effeminate looks and hunk body?
