Siddharth Anand has already wowed audiences with his two excellent films, Salaam|Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum. His third film, Bachna Ae Haseeno, is not as nice as his previous two flicks, but still satisfies and entertains and will surely bring a smile on your face when the film ends!

The story of the film: Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) is a smart, sexy hunk who falls in love thrice in his life. Mahi (Minissha Lamba) is his first girlfriend whom he fell in love with when he was just 18. But circumstances compel them to break up soon. At the age of 24 in Mumbai, he falls for Radhika (Bipasha Basu), an aspiring actress who becomes his live-in girlfriend. However, Raj gets separated from her too, and finally at the age of 29, he meets Gayatri (Deepika Padukone). He gets charmed by her wittiness, cute face and experiences love like never before. But unfortunately, fate had other plans for him.

The first half of Bachna Ae Haseeno was simply fabulous! There’s not a single dull, boring moment in the first hour and all scenes were excellent! Each of the three tracks in the 1st half (Ranbir-Minissha, Ranbir-Bipasha, Ranbir-Deepika) are funny, but all 3 of them are wonderfully executed. The Ranbir-Minissha track is my most favourite! The locations are excellent and the best scene of the track was the sensous kissing scene! Just notice the expression on their faces after the smooch-Minissha is super-excited, while Ranbir is shocked and couldn’t believe his luck! Surely, one of the best scenes of the film!

The Ranbir-Bipasha track was humorous throughout, but its culmination was truly shocking and moves you. The Ranbir-Deepika track was beautiful one and the best scene of the film was definitely the intermission point. It’s so shocking and touching, that will create a strong impact for sure.

After a flawless first half, things begin to go down unfortunately in the second hour. The problem was that the entire second half was totally predictable-you know what is going to happen right till the climax. But still, the screenwriter (Devika Bhagat) tries her best to make the goings-on interesting and succeeds too to a certain extent. Another con is that the three songs (Jogi Mahi, Lucky Boy, Small Town Girl) comes in too short a gap and that hampers the impact to a great extent. If only a part of the last 2 songs were shown, then maybe it would have worked for the film.

The climax was cute, but was slapdash and indigestible to a certain extent. Yet, the film succeeds to make you smile once the credits start to roll! If only these flaws in the second half were missing, the film definitely would have become one of the finest flicks of the year!

Ranbir Kapoor was made for this role! I couldn’t think of any other actor who could have done such a great job like Ranbir! He was totally into the character, and performs wonderfully! To add to it, he looks charming and handsome throughout the film. Surely, one of the finest performances of the year!

Minissha Lamba looks cute, sweet and charming in the first half. Her character undergoes a change in the 2nd half but her performance was flawless! She has done a great job in Yahaan, Anthony Kaun Hai, Corporate, Dus Kahaniyaan and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. Let’s hope we can see more of her in the future!

Bipasha Basu was hot-n-sexy and gets adequate scope in the 2nd half. Deepika Padukone looks charming and preety, and her performance was completely upto the mark! She was looking fab in the song ‘Khuda Jaane’! Hiten Paintal as Sachin was funny.

The film also has Kunal Kapoor who is in a new look in the film and after his terrific performance in Rang De Basanti, this is surely his next best and memorable performance! Others were okay.

Vishal-Shekhar’s music was as usual rocking. Four of their compositions were outstanding-title track, Aahista Aahista, Jogi Mahi and the beautiful song of the film, Khuda Jaane! Anvita Dutt Guptan’s lyrics were fresh!

Sunil Patel’s cinematography was eye-catching, especially in the song ‘Aahista Aahista’ and ‘Khuda Jaane’. Rishi Oberoi’s background score was the highpoint of the film. It was like the soul of the film.

Aditya Chopra’s story was almost flawless, except for the climax. Devika Bhagat’s screenplay was interesting and she does total justice to the story.

Siddharth Anandhad had already proved his worth with Salaam|Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum. The freshness found in his previous two films is also present in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Overall, he wonderfully handled the film. Waiting for his next flick!

Some of the best scenes of the film:

1.    THE ENTIRE FIRST HALF!

2.    The entry scenes of all the 4 main actors!

3.    The intermission point

4.    Raj in Amritsar

5.    The song ‘Jogi Mahi’

6.    Raj meeting Radhika after a long time

7.    Raj with Radhika in Capri, Italy

8.    The last scene of the movie

On the whole, Bachna Ae Haseeno deserves to be watched inspite of the fact that it has some flaws in the 2nd half. It’s first half was absolutely outstanding! Must be watched by all those who celeberate love!

Come Fall in Love…Thrice!!
