Thriller. Review on Baby

Indian cinema is getting smarter, tougher and day and night trying to supply meatier product to the audience. "Baby" a terrorism flick is the perfect specimen to the list.Like in hollywood where making films on world terrorism is a plaything and where it is a favourite topic on the golf course and the cocktails as well.Here on our homeground(read bollywood) it is not so.

Full marks should be given to its writer and directer Neeraj Pandey who entertained us and made our cinema proud with a  meaningful "A wednesday" and a gripping heist'Special 26' and here he is with a chilling thriller masterfully done on all counts ie performances, immaculate writing.classic suspense and thouroughly enjoyable edge of the seat suspense in the last concluding 45 minutes.

The movie is laced with a near perfect caste headed by Danny.Akshay kumar.Anupam kher and Rana Daggubatti and Tapsee Pannu as members of a special anti terrorism group code named BABY.

The film is shot brilliantly on the locations of Istanbul, Nepal, Saudi arabia and Delhi. Special mention should be given to Tapsee "s cameo where she is highly impressive with her act with eyes and hands too.Her fight with sushant is the high point of the film.

In actuality this is a blink of an eye movie where events move at an enviable speed specially in the last 60 minutes of the film.

The enterprise is not without flaws. The background music( no songs as such) is a clear downer where it tries to overpower the writing. Further its a straight lift from  hollywood "Bourne" series.Another dampener is the way in which KK Menons escape has been filmed on an(surprisingly) uncrowded Mumbai noon street. It is cheesy and doesnt gel with the high standard of writing. Further it may disappoint audience in for pure entertainment in the name of  song n dance.

Still bollywood should be proud of this film which is a cut above the rest, doesnt play to the gallary and a lesson to those directors thinking that content driven cinema is out of fashion.
