BAAGHI: Action Packed, Emotions Lacked

Trailers of this movie made me wait eagerly for it to hit the screens. That chiselled lad, Tiger Shroff, is one definition of perseverance and dedication. Baaghi is, one of the most awaited movies this summer, the only trending release this Friday; so all the more reason to watch it.

Yet another Sabbir Khan directorial with Tiger Shroff(remember Heropanti), makes me expect some more for the groovy stuff. This movie packs all the nit-grits like action, drama, romance and more action. A remake of ‘The Raid: Redemption’ and ‘Varsham’, but the directors have taken time to give it a new twist.

The plot is just like a.mmm.what’s the word.same ol’, same ol’(though they tried to give it a new look). This story is about Ronny(Tiger Shroff) whose ailing father shunts him off to martial arts school in Kerala which is run by his best friend, where he learns knacks of Kalaripayattu. During his journey he meets Sia(Shraddha Kapoor) in the train while it is raining outside. Well, rain has more important role to play as whenever they meet, it is RAINING. Simultaneously, Shraddha manages to catch the eyes of Raghav(Sudheer Babu), who is playing the antagonist, and he falls for her as well(that was, like, totally unpredictable). Time being, Sia and Ronny’s love grows stronger than ever and they can’t live another day without each other. On the other hand, the villain wants to marry her as well.

Sia’s father, a man who loves money more than anything else in the world, is approached by Raghav and asks for Sia’s hand.  Things then just snow-ball after that. Ronny and Sia are fighting everyone to be with each other. We against the whole world. Packed with some serious stunts and jab-in-your-face kind of action.

Behind this whole story, what I could see was action scene after action scene. Villain has motives for multiple murders, which is insanely borderline stupidity. Tiger manages to break bones and show some awe-some action but failed to bring emotions to the character. Shraddha has limited screen time and seen in chirpy, cloying and cute character(becoming her forte, I guess) but doesn’t break a sweat or ruffles her salon-perfect hair during action scenes.

If you are an action fanatic and love some brawns without brains, then this movie is for you. But for someone like me who likes some story going somewhere, I would rather dodge this missile of a movie. Can’t get enough of Tiger, but can’t get the hang of the movie.
