As I needed a mobility option for wireless Broad band in Bangalore, started a search for a reliable connection to replace my Airtel Wired Broad band. Finally got a information that BSNL EVDO connection is so far good in Bangalore city , so decided to give it a try.
Went to the Jayanagar BSNL office, in the entrance they have a advt. about evdo but when enquired they told that now it is not available. So I was disappointed, started googling for contact numbers of Bsnl offices in Bangalore city.
Finally got a connection from BTM bsnl office.
Initial amount : 2500/- NON Refundable
monthly : 750 /- Rs for unlimited usage.
Completed the formalities and asked the lady to give me details of configuration settings, to my dismay she just showed me a notebook cover in which the settings have been hand written. She asked me to copy it , they do not have any leaflet nor a brochure. This is bad, having paid Rs 2500/- I just got a new line payment receipt and the Device, that is all, You have to do all by your own.
Headed to home, connected the device to the laptop, the device got installed with out any issues, well and good. Network was shown in the connection dialog but is was not able to connect.It was showing some error. I thought I lost my hard earned money, OHM help me , tried to contact he customer care for no use. After 4 hrs tried again, finally got the network, but only 1x connection not the 3g.. retry was the only option. Finally got things right when I changed my location to the balcony and was able to connect. Speed was also not bad, so things got working..
Day 2, early morning got up to check the connection, I was surprised to see the network was connecting very fast and the Internet speed was also good, did a speedtest, got nearly 0.8 Mbps not bad. After one month of use I got the speed of 1+ MBps. So finally fully satisfied with the connection and was able to connect to my VPN and work..
The issues:
Connectivity depends on the network coverage
Need to reconnect if the signal strength is low.
3.Cannot discontinue the service as the device will not be taken back by bsnl.
