Help & Support:

About 3 days ago I got a New BSNL 3G data card in view of being able to work from home anytime. My work demands me to be on the internet whenever needed and after some research got to know that BSNL 3G datacard gives speeds upto 3.7 Mbps and finally decided to buy one.  Got one from the nearby BSNL commercial office at the cost price of 3160.This includes the 2 month free subscription, the 3G datacard device and the SIM..

I was shocked to see how simple and good the device was to set up and use when compared to the TATA Photon card that I had used earlier for a couple of weeks.. As soon as I plugged the device the software got installed automatically and I was instantly able to connect to internet. The speed to connect to internet was amazingly good and I thought it was a best buy.. Then I called one of my friends to know what speeds he receives on the Tata Photon card.. He advised me to run the speed test.

The speed test revealed that I am just getting speeds upto 850 Kbps...Tested 100 times and just once could see the speed going beyond 2 Mbps.. I called the BSNL care for help.. The care team didnt even know what I was refering about.. They gave me a different number to contact and I was calling atleast 10 people to get help and finally gave up...Pathetic service..

After a day I realised that my connection keeps dropping frequently... As soon as the clock nears one hour or just past an hour the internet gets disconnected.. I got very disappointed with this because I need to be on VPN constantly for hours on critical issues...Did not think of calling the customer care knowing the fact that it is not worth wasting time..

Finally decided to get to my old 2 Mbps BSNL phone line internet service and got the Wi-fI setup at home with the help of my friend who deals in wireless Modems and internet connections..

My advice to others:

Keep the device as a backup internet access option if the primary network has issues..

Buy only if you neeed net on the go..

Cost: 3160

Includes: Lifetime validity, 2 Months free subscription/usage upto 2GB. Thereafter Rs. 275 per month for 2GB data.

Pros: Useful if need net on the go, Ease of operation and speeds good enough to perform simple tasks.

Cons: Frequest connection Drops, Inconsistent speeds.. 250 Kbps to 2Mbps.

Verdict: Better than other internet datacards but you need to help yourself.. do not expect any customer care..  Buy it only if you need internet on the Go and do not have an alternate internet connection option..

Thanks and Regards
