Today, in all newspapers bsnl chennai, has advertised with new, unbelievable unlimited plans.
1 . 256 kbps unlimited rs.750 per month (existing one)
2 . 512 kbps unlimited rs.900 per month (400 voice calls free)
3 . 1 mbps unlimited rs.1000 per month (450 voice calls free)
4 . 2 mbps unlimited rs.1100 per month (500 voice calls free)
Plus free download for 15 days at 2 mbps speed, if registered before 31st march .
Presently, i am using 256 kbps unlimited. Just now, the tower in my area (arumbakkam, chennai) was fitted with antenna for ev-do data card and i was planning to have a demo and purchase ev-do data-card, to enjoy high speed, at low cost. But to my surprise, today in all newspapers, i have seen the above advertisement for unlimited broadband plans, and decided, to revert back to 2 mbps unlimited plan, instead of data-card.
However, when i contacted the nearby bsnl office, they are unaware of this advertisement.
Then, i contacted the helpline, they said there will be an usage limit ( gb) after which the speed will be reduced / limited to 256 kbps or like that. And this is not reflected in the advertisement . I never thought of bsnl people to mislead customers, in this way. However, i will confirm which one is correct and go for plan change. Also i will post the real news here. If anybody come across this episode, please post or reply here.

Again contacted helpline 1500. They have confirmed that 512 kbps - download limit is 8 GB. 1 mbps - download limit is 9gb. 2 mbps - download limit is 10gb. Afterward for all plans, speed will be reduced to 256 kbps. So i never expected bsnl to become so cheap (behavior) to cheat their customers. I am sure customer will soon realize this and move on to other brands / isps.
I am a regular customer of bsnl, for more than 12 years, from the old days of (28.8 /33.6kbps) dial up connection.
