This is one service in which BSNL clinched the deal from others. The speed is lightning fast and I have not yet encountered a downtime in 2 months of its operation. I took the diwali bonanza offer. As is typical of bsnl, I had to clear my form through 3 offices and they took over 2 months to get it to my home, but then everything went on well. Do not enrol for the plan where you pre-pay 10 months of rental or buy the modem in advance, because then if they do not come and install it for some stupid reason (which they always have) you will hardly have any recourse to get back the money from them. I had put in only Rs.750 so I was not too worried even if they did not put it up. Overall the plan is little bit on the higher side for data intensive users as you need to pay an additional Rs.180 rental for the landline too, but it makes its worth known once you sit on your comp and browse. Also the bsnl telephone can be good if you have a number of local contacts using bsnl landline. I am hoping that they come up with an affordable unlimited browsing plan.
