Last week I had went to BSNL Customer Service Center, Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra for taking a BSNL Prepaid Sim. When I requested for the same, the lady sitting there told BSNL may not be having network coverage in your place, first check and then take the sim. She was not ready even to take up the application and was chatting each other(there were 3 ladies there).
I told BSNL has coverage there. She didn't seems happy on my reply and gave me the application form. I filled it and gave it along with Govt. Approved Rent Agreement(done in Sub-Registrar office using Aadhar Validation two months ago) as my temporary identity proof along with Passport Copy as my permanent identity proof.
She told this can't be agreed as you need to have permanent identity proof in Pune. I told I am staying here for job purpose and what I had submitted is a Govt. Approved Rent Agreement. "No, I can't give you sim for this, if proper identity proof is not given, you don't have problem, but BSNL will fine me 50000 Rs" she is saying. I asked why BSNL fines you for my identity proof. She told it is the case, so no way to give you sim. I asked can I see your Divisional Engineer. She became angry and told "She is in top floor, Go and do whatever you want".
I went to top floor, it was a lady having Pawar as surname, was very friendly. I showed her the proofs and she told to go below and tell them I had verified and get the sim from them. I went to them again and told the same.
They there restless, was murmering between them why madam had done this, what we will do to not give him sim like that. Finally they told show originals of all documents you had brought. I told for Passport right now I don't have an original. But my driving license and rent agreement I will show, with that give me the sim.
They became happy "No, no without Passport original not possible. Go and come back with originals again". I asked will you ask something again when I come back with it. We can't say it now, getting BSNL sim is not that easy son.
I was really worried. I told "You people don't want to give me sim. And that's why making reason for it, why you people are not interested to have a new customer to your network". "No, we don't want any excuses, Nothing will happen even if we don't sell the sim. You go and complaint if you want, nothing will happen to me". I felt really bad and returned desparately.
Yes, that is the truth. Nothing will happen if they don't sell the sim. But for private network they have target and its bussiness, so they want customers, they will give the sim with a xerox copy of passport(any state) and photo, but BSNL won't.Then BSNL people will strike saying private network is swallowing us, Government is not doing anything etc. And this is the attitude they show to a customer who came to take a prepaid sim which is a very basic service.
