I bought BPL BR1852 frost free double door refrigerator in 1995 from Nagda, MP. I went through 2 transfers thereafter and am now settled in Bangalore since 2001. I have had no problems whatsoever with this fridge in the last 17 seventeen years.
Never seen a service center. The fridge was also kept in a transport co godown for 3 months when I was transferred to Mumbai till I got the accommodation in Mumbai. I paid Rs.12500 for this fridge in Jan 1995 which was a princely sum at that time.
However, being a 1-star fridge and Bangalore has the highest cost of electricity in India at about Rs.5/- per unit I am in a dilemma whether to change it to a new 5-star FF double door fridge with all the claims about energy saving 5-star fridges. What I am afraid is if the proposed new 5-star does not reduce the electricity consumption then changing the fridge becomes counterproductive making a hole in my pocket!
