What lies beneath!!''. Review on BITS, Pilani

Right!!!!

Here I am, another soul from the best of institutes--BITS-Pilani.

In their reviews, all my friends here (in this section) have given excellent overview of the admission procedures, campus life, academics, curriculum and even the extra curricular activities. So, I would be just be repeating that stuff if I were to talk about the institute in an ordinary way (they have covered every single thing and have left me nothing!!)

I am presently in the first semester of my final year. And I am doing my PS-2 (industrial training) which is one of the special features of our college. It is organised in it's own unique way and runs for the whole of a semester (5 1/2 months to be precise)! We are the property of the company for these six months. We work as employees at the companies allotted to us by the institute. i.e. we taste the professional world for six months before hand and that gives an edge over even the IITians. We are excellent managers coz of this and of what all my friends have mentioned in their reviews. And that is why BITS stands first in campus placements year after year.

But, the main reason for writing this review is not this. In my PS-2 station (I wouldn't dare to mention it while I'm still here), I have had some experiences which have completely changed the way I usually think--

I never realized the wonderful opportunity I have had by gaining admission into BITS-Pilani till I had these experiences.

We are in such a congenial atmosphere- very unlike the world outside. We are blissfully unaware of what would have happened to us had we not been here. We do not know what could (have) happen to us in that atmosphere where pulling the legs of others- a friend’s, a colleague’s, a superior’s or even a subordinate’s- is one’s win; in that place where we do not get wonderful friends who will help us even if they have a compre(final examinations of the semester) in the afternoon; where we do not get the opportunity to pursue our passion with all the freedom and help in the world; where the boss doesn’t hesitate to steal our credentials for his eminence; where we have to be wary of every word we speak and every action we perform and where we could be engulfed by the venal dark any minute now.

Believe me fr'ens, the world outside is completely opposite to what it is here. It is not as rosy as it seems. Even if we get into a top brass job with a over the top pay scale, we can never get the warm attitude and the help we get from our friends, and even from those who are not yet our friends, here. We would be constantly yearning to get back to these four or five years. Even if we do not feel it right now, we will miss this place a hundred times more that we are missing our home and school days now. We will miss all the chit-o-chats in the mess, the lachhas(Bitsian slang for chats) in the Q.T(Quadrantal triangle-big empty space confined within the hostels) and the dewdrops at Conn’t(our shopping place).

Even more of this if we do not make a job in the campuses.

This is what I have realized from the experiences of PS-2. Every moment for me here is a madeleine, invoking nostalgia and yearning for the ambiance of pilani.

I can give u all my experiences and you wouldn’t dare say that you don’t believe any of this. I had a great great paradigm shift after this. And now I truely realize how wondeful it is to be at BITS-Pilani.

Other things I want you people out there to know is the political scenario here and the dark side of the campus life here if you are not careful. Also, I want to stress the way one has to approach the courses here as the ordinry methods won't work!
