B.M.Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering is historically one of the oldest engineering colleges in the state of Karnataka. Founded by Sri Sreenivasaiah nearly a century ago, this college has come through many ups and downs to emerge as one of the premier educational institutions in Bangalore. Here are some more facts about the
college.
CAMPUS AND LOCATION :- Located ideally in the heart of the city, on the famous bull temple road, about 2.5 kms from Majestic,the campus is highly accessible. Though situated in the heart of the city, the campus boasts of a serene and calm atmosphere seen nowhere else so close to the city. And, of course, as an added bonus the famous Bull Temple situated atop a hill just opposite to the college acts as a wonderful romantic hangout for the couples in the college. The Campus though comparatively not as big as RV or SIT colleges, has its own aesthetic beauty.
ACADEMIC CURRICULUM :- The college offers the highest number of Bachelor’s courses in the entire state ranging from Electronics and Computer Science to Transport Engineering and Manufacturing Science. Apart from these, the college also offers post-graduate courses in Business Management (MBA), Computer Applications (MCA) and Engineering (ME). But, on the honest side, I must admit that academically B.M.S. plays second fiddle to RV and PES colleges. But, trust me, we more than make up for it through various other means.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :- This is where B.M.S. rules big time. There isn’t even any college near comparison when compared to the facilities provided by the college for extra activities. The college encourages all sort of sporting activities and actually manages to maintain teams for even the less-popular sports such as kho-kho and handball. All cultural activities are greatly encouraged, and this fact is proven by the unmatched BMS cultural teams who have walked away with more than 50 prizes in the last three years. And lastly, the one of its kind BMS mountaineering club is the first and only such club in any engineering college in the state. Their accomplishments range from protecting wildlife and nature to conquering the Himalayan peaks.
CROWD :- The BMS crowd is unlike any other. We have our own tradition which we uphold with great pride. The people including most of the lecturers are fun-loving and friendly. There is a lot of enthusiasm for every sort of activity. Ragging is friendly and fun. And most importantly, no one parties like the BMS crowd.
OVERVIEW :- All in all, BMS doesn’t encourage people to be geniuses, but rather encourages them to be smart and better people overall, to take life lightly and as it comes. We might not be dedicated to our studies, but sure are dedicated to our lifestyle. We might not be devoted to academics, but are devoted to our college and we sure as hell don’t show much of deference, but what can I say, WE'RE BMS AND DAMN PROUD OF IT.
