Hi all,

Its been a while after the album ayutha ezhuthu/yuva is released. I have been listening to the tamil version for almost a week and a half now continuously. That is justified becoz ARR songs do take some time to register in your mind and you cannot make a judgement after one or two times of hearing...

This review is my impression on the album , a completely unbiased one, as I have seen people trying to convince themselves that an ARR - Maniratnam association can NEVER produce a bad result...

1) Hey Good bye Nanbaa...

ARR gives a clear hint that, he is very keen on experimenting with trance/techno. The processed female voice, the ring delay on the male voices are all clear hints of that... This song has become a favourite of mine, for the energy that the song convects... it has got some tremendous orchestration... Extremely well chosen digitized sounds... All is well till here... Now, listen to the verse of the song.... ARR seems terribly out of ideas in this song... The whole verse is extremely patchy and sounds like it was mended in the ugliest fashion to fit into the rather hep sounding pallavi (mukhda). still a listenable/hummable song... NOTHING great to rave about it.

2) Sandai kozhi (koli???)

I was dying to listen to something like this from ARR... finally he gives me a melody... Its been ages since I heard one from him... Sadhana sargam sound alike Madhushree does a good job despite making kozhi koli.... Nice tune, a great folkish beat, disciplined orchestration and above all an Indian feel to it... Huh, I was getting suffocated with all that non indian sounds ARR has given in his recent movies.... this song is a welcome break... Now that is the pretty side of it.... Again, repeated listsning of this song somehow gives me the feeling that ARR 'Thought something, did something and the outcome is something else....' Now, We can call this an outstanding folk song by ARR, but just going down the memory lane... some songs do flash in my mind... aathangara marame... form Kizhakku cheemayile, Kurukku siruthavale from Mudhalvan... Poraale ponnuthayi from Karuthamma.... Now, Its kind of hard to call this sandai kozhi song anything more than a mediocre folk composition...when u listen to the above mentioned songs...

3)Jana gana mana....

Blive me, this song has never ceased to amuse me.... sadly enuff for all wrong reasons.... This is the most avoidable song in this whole album... You are forced to listen to two overly processed robo like voices (sadly its ARR and Karthik here) with an extremely stereotyped and irritating o yuva yuva riff.... Totally out of focus, lack lustre and forgettable composition by ARR... What amuses me most here is why do u require the maestro ARR and a very promising karthik to render this Tune less , ridiculous chant jana gana mana.... Any layman can reproduce this 'SONG' and feel happy and proud of himself about his/her musical talent!!.... now... I duno if that was the reason for ARR to compose this king of turkeys!!!

No rating.... Dint want to put 0!!

4)yaakkai thiri...

Okay... finally we have a different song.... This is an extremely well conceived song in this album.... Hats off to ARR in thisone.... unlike the irritating chant in jana gana mana..... this one is full of energy.... great recording.... the trance loop is implemented with unmatched grace.... and the fanaaa sound in the background is out of the world.... Sunitha sarathy has done an outstanding job in the song.... the swara renditions in the second verse rocks.... the power that the swara and the alaap riffs provide is overwhelming... with the thoduvom thoduvom sound happning in the background.... Finally we have a welcome break..... this song is good in all respects.... Now thats what ARR is... then why those unsolicited wrong ones????

8/10

5)Nenjam ellaaaam

I dunoo what elements to review on this song?? A total confusion altogether.... an agonizingly constipated sounding Adnaan Sami... and an extremely empty sounding orchextration... The tune sounds as if some phirang music director composed the song and later tamil lyrics where fitted into this one.... Here and there Adnaan sami screams nesippaayaa as if he woke up in a jolt from a nightmare.... Now what was the intent behind this song ARR? unpardonable... This one dose not even deserve a mention..... avoidable!!!!

Rate this one??? where where???

6)Dol dol...

ARR thinks that people have bad memories.... or this song makes me think so.... years back... something whih impressed me to a great extent was the percussion sample used in the mudhalvan/bombay dreams song shakalaka baby... Now already when there is a celebrated dispute that ARR fliced the ic907 beat cycles for shakalakka baby, therez no justification for reusing it in this song... Now, lets let that pass.... The eternal pi*s off blaaze has contributed generously to the funeral of this song.... every dol dol that he says are like those nails on the coffin of this song.... If ARR continues to associate with the below avarage , low performing rapper, then its high time he got his head and intellect inspected!!! Dont even think of listening to this song.... u might have a head ache that will last for more than a week!!!

Thats my impression on yuva.... I thought New was a bad score... but hey it has competition from yuva... then again.. ARR has only one rival... thats himself whether the product is good or bad!!
