I have banked with Axis for long. My sister used to work there. She told so many good stories about them. Probably it was her and not the bank that mattered while banking with them:)- I have referred to them many NRI accounts and salary accounts too.


I did not need any home loan but they forced me to take one for my home improvement citing tax benefits. During the initial honey moon when papers were made and got signed at my place, it appeared this loan process was such an awesome one and out of this world. I later realized the annual targets were around so lots of compromises were made and things fast forwarded .


Many referrals were ignored as targets were not important again. While my EMI payments went fine and all looked OK. After 3+ year I still did not have any online access to my account or its amortized schedule. Many reminders to enable it met with "sent from wrong email id", "please visit the bank", "get it notarized by Indian Embassy" etc. I took that easy as I was already busy with my daily professional grind.


I returned back to India and wanted to move this to a non NRI resident account. They refused to entertain me on the grounds that I need to be present in person. I obliged and tried my best to visit their RAC in Secunderabad. It was in a shoddy place, with no parking, not welcoming location. I again took it easy and managed to pay the EMI somehow. Not once did their agents/managers/relation ship manager attempt to figure out what was the issue and how they could help.


During one of my feeble attempts to move it to another bank was prevented by the agent handling it by offering me a sop of reduced interest rate. I bit the dust but later realized it was not passed to me in the end.


Finally I got hold of a smaller bank to take over the loan and the real struggle started. Flat refusal to provide you with the standard "list of the documents", delayed responses to any clarification by the take over bank etc started depicting the true colors. The TAT for any thing from them is into days. To top it all the biggest joke is they have moved my title documents to Mumbai obviously for reduction in stamp duty charges during loan process.


The new banker who accompanied me to Axis Bank was so badly behaved with that he ended up walking out and I had to convince him and take things into my hands.


I want you all to ensure you know what you are getting into and plan well in advance for such things. It has not been a happy experience while during the loan tuner or at the end. the bad taste in my mouth still lingers.
