Today I got a an anonymous call from a number+91 9136221652 who claimed to be Mohit from Delhi. He was telling that he has many offers related to VISA and MASTERCARD credit cards and he got my name and number from a Payment Gateway and my name got selected for so many offers because of my credit card usage. When I asked him, which company he is working for. he was stammering and trying to say continuously that there are very good offers related to vacations and mobiles and stuff like that.
I got little doubt on that guy and just checked with him how he got my details and since he is from a payment gateway company I asked him which bank's credit card I use for which there is no answer and immediately cut the call.
Please be aware of such frauds. Also, few days back there was a similar call from another fraudster. He also told a similar kind of story and asked me to pay 12000 for a holiday package of 6D/5N for Manali and I would get a 40, 000 Rs worth Smartphone absolutely free and asked me for my credit card details. I, then asked him to send it to my address and I would pay by COD(Cash On Delivery) for which he said that there would be extra 500 Rs. that would be charged for that. I told that I am ready to pay those charges, if I really get what he promised for. Then he told that the offer is only for Credit card purchases and not for COD.
They try to be very smart and. guys be very careful, these fraudsters are trying to cash and ultimately we would become the victims. So, kindly check and verify and pay through credit card. otherwise use it only with the renowned websites. Also, there are some fraud sites.
One word of caution, while purchasing online also, please get the first few orders with cash on delivery and thereafter once you get the confidence, use your cards.
Also, kindly check Mouthshut before committing to any online purchase/teletransfer credit card purchase.
