Do You Really Need A Credit Card?
Jul 01, 2001 05:58 AM 6863 Views

Some people can't seem to survive without a credit card. I wish them luck because it is very easy to get in over your head when you start using them on a regular basis.

A credit card is a wonderful thing to have in case of emergency. With it, you can get cash, pay bills or simply purchase a meal along the way. They can be an asset if used correctly.

Used incorrectly however, they can be a nightmare. Instead of saving you money, you may be paying outrageous interest on things you don't really need.

I have a friend who is an impulse shopper. She finds a sale and buys things whether she can afford them or not. She may find a terrific sale which saves her quite a bit of cash on an object, but then charges it to her credit card instead.

Even if she pays half price for the object, she is loosing money by making payments for months at a high interest rate.

Credit cards are great, but only if you pay the balance in full each month. Otherwise, you will end up spending more than you are saving.

Your answer is likely to be based on a variety of things. My answer to this question is no.
