Hello guys,
There are many scholarships available to study abroad. But I would like to share tips to prepare and apply for CSC scholarship as a successful Ph.D. candidate in China. I am Hitesh Mangukiya, Ph.D. scholar in SJTU, Shanghai, China. You can search in google scholar for my academic profile. Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the most reputed university in the world. It ranks 57th in world QS university ranking globally and 4th in China.
Why Did I start searching for scholarships abroad?
Previously, I was working as an R&D officer in the diagnostic company(Oct 2012- March 2014). I was tired of doing the job in protein lab where the policy was not in the favor of the employee. There was no chance of salary rise or designation change because of degree barrier. I have started searching for scholarships abroad through google and asking friends through linked in contacts. Finally, I came through the PSDD program started in SJTU through one of my friends was doing post-doc in SJTU.
How I got here?
As I said, I have asked my friend who was doing post-doc here in SJTU for the procedure to apply for the Ph.D. scholarship. It was Oct 2013 when we had first communication regarding application for the scholarship. First, he asked me to search a research lab and find a professor whose lab I wanted to work. Following his advise I have found professor through his recommendation only. Because of my R&D experience professor accepted me for doing Ph.D. in his lab. The next step was to apply for the scholarship. Shanghai is the 7th costliest city in the world, it is difficult to survive without a scholarship. For Sep 2014 intake the requirement to apply for the scholarship was just the acceptance letter from the professor, Two recommendation letters from your previous contacts, CV and academic transcripts of the previous degree. March 10th, 2014 was the deadline to apply for the scholarship. finally, I have submitted the material through FedEx post and the results were out in July. I got the scholarship and registration date was Sep 12th, 2014. It's been 4 yrs since then as a Ph.D. candidate.
Now the requirement to apply for scholarship has been changed because of the SJTU ranking going up.
