I’ve been a tourist now in Melbourne Australia for 3 weeks returning home to Canada in 3 days. I’m absolutely horrified by the treatment I’ve had while here. Since the moment I stepped into the Sydney Airport (had to connect from Sydney to Melbourne) Me and my family have been treated like absolute garbage. I was physically assaulted by an elderly man at the airport with a luggage cart because he claimed we cut in front of him. (I didn’t even see him and didn’t realize he was making his way there but we definitely got there first) I had to apologize to him instead of standing up for myself since I had my young son with me. People shoving and cursing everywhere we went, and surprisingly 98% of the rudeness and aggressiveness was coming from immigrants who are actually very kind in Canada. Being yelled at on the Craigieburn platform by employees for not understanding where platforms were and how to get to them and bumping into several people on a daily basis due to the rushed crowds and then when we apologize we’re given dirty looks and treated like we’ve done the unthinkable. The most offensive time was when I bumped into a man at Coles and after I apologized he literally cursed me out to the point my son cried. In summation, I found Australia extremely hostile, aggressive and not a country that I could raise children in hoping to produce kind, successful contributors to society.
