Australia are simply the best team in the contemporary cricket world. They seem to bash every other side in the world with ease and efficiency. Wherever they go, success is at their feet. And why not, they have world-class players in every department of the game. Whether be it batting, bowling, fielding or wicket-keeping, they have players to turn around the game.
Moreover, Australia have tasted success the world-over in both forms of the game. They are very successful in tests and one dayers. 17 straight test wins and 14 straight one days wins provides enough testimony to the fact as to why the Aussies rule the cricketing world.
To lead the way, Ricky Ponting is at the helm of things for Australians. A fine batsman, great fielder, and a brilliant captain. He makes great tactical decisions that can change the course of the game. A perfect captain to replace the great Steve Waugh.
To lead the way in the batting department, Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Damien Martyn, Michael Clarke, Simon Katich, and Andrew Symonds have excelled for Australia in trying and testing conditions. All these batsmen have been a thorn in the way of opposition bowlers. They can attack and destroy oppositions' gameplans and mindsets.
Behind the stumps, Adam Gilchrist is Mr. Dependable. A very good wicket-keeper, he is also a fine motivator. Adam's also a dynamo with the bat in hand. Most astonishing about his batting is his strike rate!!!! Terrific in one-dayers,he scores 80+ runs off every 100 balls in test cricket, second to none!!!! He is every opposition's scourge. Not to mention, given the limited opportunities, he has been a very fine captain.
In the bowling department, Glenn Mc Grath, Jason Gillespie, Michael Kasprowicz, Brett Lee, and Shane Warne are all world-class performers. They are all match-winners for Australia. Mc Grath and Warne alone have picked almost 1000 test wickets!!!!
The greatest asset of this Australian team is that they have the self-belief that they can successfully win matches and tournaments wherever they play, and in whatever conditions. They have excelled the world-over in conditions that have been alien to them. Conditions include climatic conditions and pitch conditions. They have won tests and one day tournaments the world over!!! They have a success rate like no other team in the world.
And lastly, I would like to end saying that all the teams in the world (barring Australia, of course!) must look to take a leaf out of the Aussie books and become consistent in their performances.
Australia are dominating the game like nno one else and fans, the world-over, are craving for a team to stand up and compete on a regular basis against the invincible Aussies.
