One who has a heart for endless beauty of nature can not stop himself from finding the Athirappilly water falls during his voyage. This beautiful waterfall is situated in a dense forest with a fall height of 25 meter. The fall is located in Thrissur district and the nearest city is chalakkudy. The nearest airport is Nedumbassery and nearest railway station is chalakkudy few buses are available to the spot(including KSRTC). The falls is located 35km away from chalakkudy, 58km from Thrissur, 75 km from Kochi and 174km from Coimbatore. The Athirappily roads leads to Valaparai which the Kerala Tamilnadu border and Pollachi is the nearest city of Tamilnadu
Athirappily falls originate from Western ghats and flows as chalakudy River. While visiting the place, one can also see the vazhachall falls, Charpafalls, aanakkayam and sholayar dam. Tourism is well promoted by state tourism department and jungle safari is also arranged as tourism promotion. Many films have been framed on the scenario of Athirappilly falls. The long list includes Bhahubali series and Ravan and many more. Who would not want that beauty on screen? But one bad opinion I have about the are is lack of hotels and resorts. It may be because it is a dense forest but lack of accommodation facilities do discourage foreign tourists: although there are many you can find many near the town but most of them are of average standards. As we have few issues, we often have to chose our own vehicles. You can see a lot of cars and bikes and even vans. But one think you have to be careful is that being it a dense forest, monkeys freely loaf around the roads, which may attack you or grab your things. Make sure you lock your vehicles and avoid teasing monkeys. And another safety guideline I want to tell is while enjoying the waterfall make sure you are at safe distance recommended by guards to avoid yourself falling into the falls. Also try to avoid risky selfies to prevent accidents. And obey the rules and instructions of police and guards as they are more familiar to the falls, knowing what to do and what not. This is one beautiful place where you can liberate your soul
