Annoying delivery (dis)service. Review on At Home, Bangalore

Update on 25th June: Shot off another angry letter to them informing them that I have written a review regarding their service. Have received two phone calls after this from them assuring me that they have sorted out this matter and taken action, assuring me the best of services and that this will not happen again. I dont know if what I experienced was a 1 off incident. Would love to know if anyone else who shopped at this store experienced the same problem I did. Giving them the benefit of the doubt and taking their assurance that this will not happen again I think you could give them a try (but be cautioned against the problem you may face) as their stuff was really good compared to those furniture exhibitions in palace grounds and some of the other big stores in terms of selection and quality. My only issue was with their delivery.

24th June:We purchased 2 items from the shop opposite Forum mall, Marigowda rd, Bangalore. We payed the total amount of upfront at the time of billing on 19th June, Friday.

We requested for same day delivery in the evening but the sales person said it would not be possible till Monday (21st). We agreed and requested that the delivery be made after 7pm in the evening as we are working. The salesman said it would be arranged with the delivery people. No one called or delivered anything to us on 21st. 22nd morning I called the delivery person from the numbers given on the bill. He said he would check and get back. Later he called back and said that they would deliver it by 2pm. I told him we will not be at home so to come after 7pm. Still later he called my husband and said no one told him about the delivery time and that he would leave it with the security of our building.I have never heard anything so irresponsible.After another phone call to another of the delivery numbers informing him to do something so that it reaches after 7pm the problem seemed to have been solved with all sides agreeing to send it in at 7pm.

I was home by 6.30pm on 22nd and received a call at around 6.45pm for the delivery. The goods were delivered in ok condition. However, the delivery person kept complaining that he waited outside our house for us for 2 hrs (at least 6 times he said the same thing). Is that our problem or theirs?

After all the coordination which we had to do why is the delivery complaining to the customer? Is itthe customer'sjob to be present when it is convenient fortheir delivery? Why were the delivery people not informed bythe showroom? Why is customer responsible for coordinating for the delivery after he has given the desired time? The date was not given by us but by the showroom. The coordination should be done by showroom. The customer should not have to do anything but sign for the goods at the decided time.

I wrote with my complaint to their email id but no one had the decency to write back. All in all, if you are in the mood to go to the showroom, select furniture, pay the entire amount upfront, then wait for furniture which will not come at the time you expect on the date given, then coordinate with people not connected to the showroom who will show up at their own convenience (not yours).. pls try this showroom out.. not at all suitable for working couples. Ok for people with lot of time on their hands.
