I like the display in Zenfone Max. It is crisp, vivid and easy on eyes. The icons are sharp, and I did not have problems using it in bright sunlight. However, given the price point, one would expect a full-HD display.
We got the black colour variant of Zenfone Max for review, which looks decent. There’s no innovation in terms of design, as this one looks exactly like the old Zenfone Max. Its got a textured leather pattern on the back, which gives a good grip. I don’t mind the gold metal frame running along the edges either.
Asus Zenfone Max’s power and volume keys are on the left, micro-USB slot is at the bottom; and the 3.5 mm headphone jack is on the top. The design overall looks neat, but doesn’t come with a promise of making a lasting impression.

Asus Zenfone Max has a 13MP rear camera, which didn’t really impress at first. But as I clicked more pictures in different lighting conditions, the results were much better with sharp and clear images. The camera’s colour reproduction is quite good, and it brings out details in pictures. The low-light performance is better than what one would expect at this price-point.
The 5MP front camera is a decent option options for selfies. Do not expect great pictures, but you won’t be left disappointed either.
